For years, P. Diddy has taken a hard political edge with his “Vote or Die” campaign. But lately, the hip-hop mogul and political voice is getting backlash for his comments about the 2020 election with his newest “ultimatum” — that the black vote is not free.

P. Diddy made his announcement during his live stream with Naomi Campbell, suggesting that he will hold his vote “hostage” if he needs to.

“We can’t be taken for granted,” he says, challenging Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden to make clear his plan for “Black America” in the same manner President Donald Trump made clear his intentions to build the wall.

“It’s whoever is going to take care of our community, whoever wants to make a deal. It’s business at this point,” he continued. “We can’t trust politicians. So we want to know very clearly, just like Trump made it clear that he wanna build a wall, Biden needs to make it clear that he’s going to change the lives and quality of life of black and brown people.”

Yet for practicing ideological freedom, another free-thinker is being rejected by the black community. It’s not news that P. Diddy has been at the apex of political controversy in Black Hollywood. But he’s met with great rejection. His video is making headlines. His comments are being blasted on black radio.

Let that sink in. He’s being rejected for questioning what his vote is worth.

Regardless of ideology, our votes should never be “on lock” or in chains because we identify as Democrat. For many people, the first step to leaving the Democrat plantation is becoming an independent and solely voting on interests that matter. And with much of black America voting for the Democrat Party for more than six decades, don’t we have a right to question what our years of voting has done for us? Diddy is questioning this. Why aren’t more blacks doing the same?

Our schools are horrible. Many of our neighborhoods are riddled with drugs and debauchery. But career Democrats promise it will get better. They call themselves progressives but our communities have progressively gotten worse. Is this what the black vote gets the black community? If my vote were money, I’d invest it elsewhere.

It’s critical that we mark events like Diddy’s announcement as very critical points in changing the landscape of what “Black America” will look like in the future. While the hivemind rejects him, I — a person who abhors hip-hop — lend to him my fullest support.

Diddy now joins the ranks of Isaiah Washington, Kanye West, Stacy Dash, Mike Tyson, Dennis Rodman, Terrell Owens, and a host of many others in the limelight who supported Trump Sadly, so many black people vote in obscurity, fearing a lashing for attempting to escape to ideological freedom. Fortunately, this means there is a sleeping giant in the black Republican vote. Come November, we’ll see how many ideological slaves have been set free.
