The Patriot Post® · WaPo Settles Defamation Lawsuit With Sandmann
On Friday, The Washington Post settled the defamation lawsuit brought by Covington High School student Nicholas Sandmann against the Leftmedia outlet following its libelous “reporting” against the teen. Sandmann shared the news via social media: “I filed $250M defamation lawsuit against [The] Washington Post. Today, I turned 18 & WaPo settled my lawsuit… Thanks to my family & millions of you who have stood your ground by supporting me. I still have more to do.” He later noted, “The fight isn’t over. 2 down. 6 to go.” He was referencing pending lawsuits against ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, Gannett, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone.
Recall the actual events that the Leftmedia, including the Post, distorted in their rush to paint Sandmann and his peers as a bunch of racist Donald Trump supporters. Sandmann and his classmates were waiting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial after participating in the March for Life. They were accosted by Nathan Phillips, a Native American activist, who approached the teenagers and obnoxiously banged a drum in Sandmann’s face. This incident occurred directly after the boys had been harassed and taunted by a group of Black Hebrew Israelite racists. Sandmann sought to defuse the confusing situation by simply standing and not responding to Phillips’s provocative behavior, yet the truth didn’t fit the Left’s favored narrative, so Fake News propaganda that has increasingly replaced genuine journalism was disseminated as “news.”
Mark Alexander noted the reason for the Leftmedia’s gross misreporting, writing at the time, “It played right into the ‘white privilege’ hate narrative too many Americans have been reflexively conditioned to believe. In other words, it had all the essential fixings of a great media ad revenue generator.”
The Post is now the second major Leftmedia news outlet after CNN to settle a multimillion-dollar lawsuit with Sandmann. Unfortunately, the actually monetary amount of the settlement in both cases remains unknown, leaving the question of whether justice was served essentially unanswered. Did these media outlets learn a painful lesson, or did they escape with a minor swat on the wrist? For Amazon billionaire socialist Jeff Bezos, who owns the Post, even $250 million is a drop in the bucket.
We hope Sandmann is collecting high-dollar amounts, but it would be good for the rest of the American public, which was subjected to a blatant and shameful disinformation campaign by our nation’s major news outlets, to learn of the exact monetary penalty.
