America’s Worldview Matters

A recent visit to the Creation Museum puts our culture battle in perspective.

As a young boy growing up, I remember sitting in my elementary classroom hearing a lecture on evolution and Charles Darwin. I recall seeing a picture of apes lined up and morphed into a human being. This was my introduction to the indoctrination that all human life began as monkeys. For some reason I was not sold on myself coming from an orangutan. I said, “For some reason,” but I know the reason: I attended Sunday school.

My father made it a priority that we study our Sunday school lessons on Saturday night, so we would be ready for Sunday morning to discuss. I remember reading from the book of Genesis how God created the earth in six days and rested on the seventh. However, my public elementary school curriculum told me something different. If it weren’t for my home and church life, I would have never had anything to bounce the lie of evolution from my mind. What does this have to do with anything?

I’m glad you asked.

I recently took my children to the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, and the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. This Noah’s Ark exhibit is state of the “ark.” Built according to the dimensions given in the Bible, it spans 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high. I was in awe, but more importantly, my children were astonished. Why is this exhibit so important? Because everything we’re seeing in the climate of today’s America relies on the bedrock of what we believe.

The foundation of our society at its core rests on two perspectives: Naturalistic Evolutionist Worldview vs. Biblical Creationist Worldview.

During the Ark Encounter tour, we had an opportunity to hear the man behind the ark, Dr. Ken Ham, speak. Dr. Ham is a Christian scientist who teaches the foundational principles in Genesis 1-11 as the irrefutable truth our nation needs to understand. “Look at the younger generation,” he said. “Burning down buildings, aborting babies, trying to turn males into females, men getting married to men. What a mess!” I was inspired to hear a man tell the truth without compromise. I wondered why I hadn’t heard these same words preached from the pulpit. That’s the problem: In our churches, truth is suppressed because many pastors don’t want to offend anyone. Dr. Ham could have care less whom he offended with the truth. He didn’t have a congregation to please or worry about the offering being low. He spoke God’s word and literally floored the audience, including myself.

We need to be teaching our children to think foundationally. Psalm 11:3 says, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” You don’t build a house by starting with the roof, then the walls, and on to the foundation. A house is built by the foundation first, and then the walls and the roof last. Much of what our children have been taught is the former, in which the house is being built on unstable grounds of sand. We have educated our children by building a structure from the roof down on the wrong foundation.

Dr. Ken Ham spoke truth to power. In about 15-20 minutes he crushed every argument imaginable about abortion, racism, and same-sex marriage. The reason we have so much turmoil in society is that we have the wrong foundations. Racism can be settled in the book of Genesis. We were all separated by our languages at the Tower of Babel, not by our colors. Skin color is based on demographics, not superiority. Abortion is murder. Cain killed his brother Abel because he didn’t want to obey God and was jealous because his brother did. Abortion is killing your own child based on what you believe is a threat to your convenience. “Gay marriage” is an oxymoron. God made them male and female and commanded man to be fruitful and multiply. There’s nothing fruitful coming from two men and nothing multiplying from two women; the pieces don’t fit.

If I just said something politically incorrect, so be it. God has called us to rise above the nonsense we are seeing in this nation. It’s time for Americans to quit sitting back and letting our nation crumble at the hands of leftist and globalist ideology. Let’s return to prayer and see what God does. The next generation is watching how we respond.
