Susan B. Anthony Pardon Is Trump’s Best Trolling

Democrats hate the president for defending a heroine of women’s suffrage.

If there’s one thing President Donald Trump does with particular mastery, it is trolling the Left. He showed his skill over the weekend by teasing a pardon of someone “very, very important.” Despite saying he’s considering a pardon for former NSA leaker Edward Snowden, he said the “very important” person was not him or former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Still, the media excitedly latched onto Trump’s tease, thinking that whoever it was would be sure to have some corruption taint regarding Russia, Ukraine, or some other supposed Trump scandal.

But, drumroll please… Susan B. Anthony, the 19th century women’s suffragette, was the lucky pardon recipient, to mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment codifying women’s right to vote.

You could almost see the Leftmedia newsroom editors’ shoulders slump, disappointment distorting their faces, as they assigned their B-team reporters to give perfunctory coverage.

Anthony led the National Woman Suffrage Association and, in 1872, voted for the Republican ticket, including Ulysses S. Grant’s second term. She was later arrested and convicted of voting illegally. It wasn’t until August 18, 1920, that the 19th Amendment was ratified.

“She was never pardoned,” Trump said. “She got a pardon for a lot of other women, and she didn’t put her name on the list, so she was never pardoned.”

Obviously, this was an effort to prove to American women that Trump is not their enemy. That he did it in the midst of the Democratic National Convention and while Democrats are going postal over a conspiracy about him blocking mail-in votes was a master stroke of political brilliance.

By today’s standards on racism, of course, Anthony would be canceled by the Left, which already hates the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List. Maybe Trump pardoning a heroine for women’s rights will finally push them to cancel her for good. If so, chalk it up to Trump’s trolling.

Update: The National Susan B. Anthony Museum has, er, rejected the pardon. Inquiring minds want to know: What? Why?

We suspect it’s an acute attack of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
