The Patriot Post® · Polls Force Biden to Condemn Riots
In the days of rioting that erupted in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following Jacob Blake being shot by police, two people are dead and many businesses have been burned. Yet once again the violence and rioting are excused by many on the Left as justified anger for another black man being shot by police. The narrative, as always, is that the “real” problem is “systemic racism.” So, as small-business owners watch their life’s work being looted and burned to the ground, they’re lectured by Marxist Black Lives Matter thugs that these things are necessary for real “justice” to happen.
In fact, to resist these BLM thugs is to be classified as part of the problem. This is clear from a video clip from the Kenosha riots in which a business owner is assaulted and knocked unconscious by BLM thugs as he tries to save his store from burning. As a woman seeks to help the man and excoriates the rioters, a BLM supporter responds by excusing the violence: “We’re trying to protect ourselves. You don’t understand. We’re terrified. These black men out here, they not [sic] making it home to their families.” So, looting and burning businesses and assaulting innocent business owners is the assailants “protecting” themselves? Nonsense.
Yet another example of this leftist “social justice” activism was captured in Washington, DC, when a group of BLM supporters surrounded patrons of a restaurant, shouting and demanding that they raise their fists in solidarity with BLM. One woman bravely refused and was taunted by BLM bullies as they chanted, “White silence is violence!”
BLM is the voice of totalitarianism, not justice. Like little children who fly into a temper tantrum if they don’t get what they want, so it is with these BLM activists. They can’t be reasoned with as they demand full capitulation to their false and flawed narrative and nothing else.
Enter Joe Biden. Finally. After three months of BLM riots plaguing Democrat-run cities, Biden finally — albeit briefly — stepped out of his basement to issue a short message condemning the violence. And even then, Biden first catered to the bogus narrative of “systemic police racism,” stating, “What I saw on that video makes me sick. Once again, a black man, Jacob Blake, has been shot by the police in broad daylight with the whole world watching.” He then expressed solidarity with BLM’s supposed cause by insisting, “Protesting brutality is a right and absolutely necessary.” Only then did he finally condemn what he and his fellow Democrats have been refusing to condemn for months: “Burning down communities is not protest — it’s needless violence. Violence that endangers lives, violence that guts businesses and shutters businesses that serve the community. That’s wrong.” Thanks, Captain Obvious.
Why, after months of rioting, looting, burning, and murder — all tied to these BLM “protests” — did Biden finally decide to make a statement? The simple answer can be found in the polls. Americans do not support the senseless violence and mayhem they are witnessing. The majority of Americans believe in law and order, and they support law enforcement. The mild rebuke Democrats have finally given these BLM thugs has a lot to do with the fact that the polls have tightened up, putting Biden and Donald Trump in a much closer race in almost all of the battleground states. Obviously, eroding poll numbers reveal that Joe-come-lately is engaged in a different kind of damage control.
