Every four years, like clockwork, the American people are told that the next presidential election will be “the most critical election in our nation’s history.” Yet in the past, an electoral loss wasn’t the death knell for conservatives and Republicans. We’ll get ‘em next time, we’d say.

But now that the Left has nearly pulled off its National Popular Vote (NPV) scheme, there may not be a “next time.”

Last year, we warned readers that “Under NPV, future candidates for president would never again set foot in Nevada, Iowa, New Mexico, or any other state between New York and California. Think about it: Under NPV, a candidate could theoretically lose 39 states and still win the presidency.”

That would work out well for Democrats, who only need big states like California and New York to offset the rest of the country. It had to be a Democrat who called the states between the coasts “flyover country,” as their candidates care little for the voices in the heartland.

What’s most sinister about the NPV is that it doesn’t truly eliminate the Electoral College. NPV simply ignores it altogether, or guts it from within.

The NPV would render the Electoral College “irrelevant by having states pledge to cast their electoral votes for the winner of the national popular vote, no matter the vote in their states,” explains Valerie Richardson. “The plan would take effect after it is enacted in states with a total of 270 electoral votes; it now has 196.”

What we’ve witnessed in 2020 alone is enough to reveal the Democrats’ plan to win at all costs. If they’re stuffing mailboxes with ballots now, just imagine what they’d do without the constraints of the Electoral College.

This week, our own Douglas Andrews pointed out that, in particular, the 2020 campaign is ripe for voter fraud, with 118 million Americans eligible for an absentee ballot without having to provide a reason. Another 46 million may acquire an absentee ballot with reason, while 44 million people will receive ballots at home without even requesting them.

Knowing all this, it’s a good thing we have the Electoral College. Otherwise, this election would be over already.

These days, with so much propaganda promoting the Left’s warped view of our institutions, it’s good to know that some folks are still on our side, still putting together media productions that expose the truth about the Democrats’ ultimate designs.

For example, the organization Save Our States is set to premiere a documentary next Tuesday called “Safeguard: An Electoral College Story.”

Trent England, director of Save Our States, explains that 2016 was a flash point for Democrats and the Electoral College issue. Two years after Donald Trump’s shocking victory, Democrats regrouped and took back the U.S. House. This gave the Left more power to push its NPV initiative, and England believes the need for NPV repeal movements will be “critical” after the 2020 elections.

The folks over at Blue Collar Logic offer a brief but convincing case as to why the Electoral College is worth keeping. They rightly argue that it protects the minority from the majority and ensures that all Americans have a say in presidential elections.

Despite what they claim, Democrats don’t really care much for giving all American citizens a say. They want power, and they want to keep it. Which is why they want the Electoral College abolished.
