To riff on the famous Hollywood line, we’re shocked — shocked — to find radical leftism in Hollywood.

Beginning in 2024, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this week, all Academy Award nominees will have to meet various levels of race, sex, sexual behavior, and disability quotas for cast, staff, and even plots. As Joshua Lawson quips, “The desired traits are innumerable, so it’s just easier to summarize that the AMPAS wants to see more of everyone who isn’t Caucasian, heterosexual, or male.”

In case you were wondering, there isn’t going to be a quota for including conservatives or Christians.

Before succumbing to outrage over this pathetic bit of social justice craftsmanship, however, just remember who we’re talking about here. This isn’t some conservative organization being subject to outside mandates, and MAGA-hat-wearing conservatives certainly don’t run Hollywood. No, these are “woke” leftists realizing their own indoctrination industry isn’t anywhere near “woke” enough.

The great irony is that, like all CGI, this is phony. The standards can easily be skirted.

Let’s also appreciate that this is the same Hollywood where the #MeToo movement first gained steam because it’s evidently full of raunchy men who exploit women. It’s a place where Harvey Weinstein was thanked more than anyone except Steven Spielberg in Oscar speeches.

This is the same Hollywood that casts more light-skinned actors to please the communist Chinese.

Speaking of China, this is the same Hollywood dominated by Disney, which just thanked the ChiComs who are committing genocide for their assistance in making “Mulan.”

And it’s the same Hollywood/Disney team that totally ruined Star Wars with painfully obvious “social justice” box-checking in an abomination of a new trilogy. Don’t believe us? Ask John Boyega, the black actor who played “Finn.” He recently slammed Disney for setting up his character to be quite fascinating in “The Force Awakens” only to do pretty much nothing else with him over the ensuing two movies. Well, other than put him in a skin-color quota box with Vietnamese American actress Kelly Marie Tran, who played “Rose.”

“What I would say to Disney,” Boyega asserted, “is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side.”

But that’s exactly what Hollywood elites have proposed be done with all movies, just so they can raise a champagne glass and toast each other for solving one of the world’s great problems. In the meantime, more Hollywood actors and stories will suffer the same fate as Boyega and Star Wars, all so “woke” studios can pursue a little gold trophy idol awarded in a self-righteous and increasingly politicized ceremony that fewer Americans watch.
