The Patriot Post® · Leftmedia: GOP Should Want a Biden Win So Violence Ends

Desperation is a stinky cologne, it has been said. Well, Democrats and their cohorts in the Leftmedia reek of it, even as they loudly and repeatedly note that Joe Biden is leading in the polls. How else does one explain a recent op-ed from the Brookings Institution’s Shadi Hamid, in which he argues that if President Donald Trump wins reelection, “Democrats and others on the left will be unwilling, even unable, to accept the results”? He adds, “Law-and-order Republicans who have responded in dismay to scenes of rioting and looting have an interest in Biden winning — even if they could never bring themselves to vote for him.”

Translation: The only way to end the leftist violence is to elect Biden.

The argument is as absurd as it is childish. Rewarding bad behavior only begets more bad behavior. Any parent worth his or her salt can attest to this reality. And yet this foolish argument is what Hamid believes should prompt Republicans to vote against their own and the nation’s best interests.

But it’s clear that Hamid is not a serious thinker, as evidenced by his baseless assertion that a Trump reelection “would provoke mass disillusion with electoral politics as a means of change” because “democracy, after all, is supposed to self-correct after mistakes, particularly mistakes as egregious as electing Donald Trump.” Is Hamid so obtuse as to not recognize that the election of Trump was the electoral process working as it was designed, to bring about the desired political change voiced by the electorate?

Furthermore, Hamid’s baseless assertion that the election of Trump was a “mistake” is an affront to the very notion of “democracy” Hamid seems so worried is under threat. The truth is Hamid is disillusioned with America’s republican process because it has not produced the results he desires — Democrats always winning elections. Referencing the Democrats’ popular vote victories but Electoral College losses as “evidence” to support his claims that America’s political process is failing, Hamid asserts (without evidence) that “Republican manipulation is what the democratic process itself has produced, however unfair.”

Hamid also claims that Biden is “a conventional Democrat, representing the center of the Democrat Party,” while failing to note that the party has moved so far to the left that its center is nowhere near the center of mainstream America. He says Biden presents the best possibility for preserving democracy and ending violence, while if Trump were to win, Hamid argues, the implications are “mass unrest and political violence across American cities,” and “a breakdown of democracy is always a possibility.”

America’s process breaks down when leftists like Hamid attack the process because they reject the people’s choice. It’s the radical Left, which controls the Democrat Party, that is endangering America.
