“[Joe Biden] is not up to the job,” stated former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson on Tuesday. “I’ve watched Joe Biden on the campaign trail and I’m concerned that he does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability, to serve as our commander-in-chief. He routinely gets lost in the middle of a thought and can’t recalibrate.” Recall that Dr. Jackson served as the White House physician from 2013 to 2018.

Dr. Jackson clarified that he was “not making a medical assessment,” adding, “I never took care of Vice President Biden. I’m not trying to remotely diagnose him with anything.” Yet he argued, “I’m saying it as a concerned citizen. We can all see … something’s going on here. He is having some extremely bad days. This is serious. We’re picking a commander-in-chief [who] has to be at the top of their game cognitively. And he’s really not.”

Lest anyone question Dr. Jackson’s professional opinion, he asserted, “I’m pretty familiar with what it takes both physically and cognitively to do that job and what the demands of that job are.” He elaborated, “This is a demanding job from a cognitive standpoint. You have to be locked on, you have to be articulate, you have to process lots and lots of information and multitask. And right now [Biden’s] having a really extreme time just focusing on the one task at hand that he has when he stands up in front of voters and tries to explain something.”

Dr. Jackson highlighted several instances of Biden’s gaffes while on the campaign trail. “They’re not the typical gaffes,” he contended. “He routinely gets in the middle of a thought and then he can’t recalibrate where he’s at. He’s actually having a lot of trouble recently articulating words.” He also pointed to several instances of Biden displaying visible anger when he has lost his train of thought mid-sentence, observing, “As a physician I can tell you that’s a mechanism that folks that are having cognitive difficulties use to move on and to get out of a situation.”

Reinforcing Dr. Jackson’s opinion, this week Biden made several more cognitively deficient gaffes. Yesterday, he completely forgot the name of the opponent he and Barack Obama faced in 2012, referring to Mitt Romney as “that senator who was a Mormon, the governor.” On Monday in Toledo, Ohio, Biden told a group of United Auto Workers, “You know, we have to come together. That’s why I’m running. I’m running as a proud Democrat for the Senate.”

As Douglas Andrews noted back in August, “If one ever needed proof that the Democrats are more concerned with regaining power than they are with the welfare of this nation — or with the welfare of Joe Biden, for that matter — one need look no further than this sad, pathetic, preposterous presidential candidacy.”
