“Four years ago … [we] broke with tradition and took sides in the presidential race for the first time since USA TODAY was founded in 1982,” writes the editorial board of the nation’s most widely circulated newspaper. USA Today offered an “anti-endorsement” in 2016, consisting only of an appeal “not to vote for Donald Trump,” and “stopp[ing] short … of an outright endorsement of Hillary Clinton.” This year is different, however, as the paper’s editorial board “unanimously supports the election of Joe Biden.”

Well, fold up the tents and call it. The election’s over.

Ironically and obtusely, the editorial board focuses on “a variation of the question Republican Ronald Reagan asked voters when he ran for president in 1980: Is America better off now than it was four years ago?” Its answer is, of course, that we’re not better off, thanks to a pandemic (unleashed by China, by the way), a “racial reckoning” (fomented by violent leftists, by the way), and “natural disasters fueled by climate change” (fact check: the California wildfires are due more to forest mismanagement than climate, and the hurricanes are part of a weather cycle that the Green New Deal and Paris Agreement aren’t going to fix).

As for the “are you better off” question, Gallup polling this month shows that 56% of voters say yes, we’re better off. Joe Biden’s response? “Well, their memory is not very good,” and those voters “probably shouldn’t” vote for Biden.

USA Today’s reasons for voting for Biden? “There is little doubt” Biden would’ve handled COVID more capably (even if his plan is plagiarized from Trump’s), he’s an “experienced hand” (47 years in the swamp will do that), and he “exudes decency and empathy” (fact check: no, he doesn’t). In other words, there is no reason.

The rest of the editorial is a list of assorted false and debunked Leftmedia narratives about Trump that if the rules were fair would get USA Today blocked on social media. But other than that, the paper’s editorial is accurate!

Fortunately, the paper also gave rebuttal space to Vice President Mike Pence, who penned his own op-ed making the case for President Trump to win another four years.

“Since taking office, President Trump has delivered record-breaking results for all Americans,” Pence rightly notes. “President Trump as he kept his promises to the American people, even when facing unprecedented attacks from the permanent Washington political class and their allies in the mainstream media.” That includes USA Today.

The list of accomplishments is lengthy and profound. Here are just a few:

President Trump delivered historic tax cuts and tax reform, majorly rolled back burdensome federal regulations, unleashed America’s energy sector, and fought for free and fair trade.

Throughout our first three years, businesses large and small created nearly 7 million jobs, including 500,000 manufacturing jobs. Unemployment rates for African Americans, Asian Americans and Hispanic Americans hit their lowest levels ever, and we achieved the lowest unemployment rate for women in 65 years.

President Trump delivered America-First trade reform. He replaced NAFTA with the USMCA — the most significant and balanced trade agreement in history.

President Trump oversaw the world’s greatest economy before the coronavirus struck our shores. Because of the strong foundation established through his economic policies before the global pandemic, America is on track to bounce back bigger and better than ever before.

We encourage you to read the whole thing. But the vice president concludes simply, “A vote to reelect President Trump is a vote for a safer, stronger and more prosperous America.”

Is Trump the perfect candidate? Far from it. But his right-hand man made a far more honest and compelling case than the deceitful smears coming daily from what is supposed to be an objective press.
