The accomplishments of President Donald Trump are many: job creation, increased wages, a focus on U.S. manufacturing, a judicial makeover, Middle East peace agreements, energy independence, or even hopes of school choice. Add to all of this the fact that he shifted the political norm from empty talk to actually getting work done, and this should be more than enough to earn him acclaim and applause from every U.S. citizen. Yet our media, filled with bias and outright deception, has managed to allow only his abrasive personality and past mistakes to filter through to the American people.

Nevertheless, as we have written many times, Trump’s greatest achievement was dropping a proverbial bomb on the Washington establishment and ruling class.

The quick but inaccurate corporate media, thriving on the 24-hour news cycle, often abandons reporting facts while still asserting its journalistic credibility. This has become even more evident over the last four years, as so many Americans are seeking alternatives for information. As recently as November 2, Pew Research reported that eight in 10 Americans surveyed say they get “different facts depending on where they turn for news.”

From the first day of the Trump administration and the false tweet from a Time reporter about the removal of a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. bust from the Oval Office, Trump and his administration have been under attack. That’s but a petty example. Independent journalist Sharyl Attkisson created a “definitive list” of the media’s false coverage of Trump. It’s a terrific and well-researched resource.

For example, a single anonymous source served as the basis of a report run by CNN claiming that Trump had ties to a Russian investment fund. This not only resulted in the resignation of three CNN employees but it was easily verified as a hoax by documents found showing the false charges originated from — wait for it — former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This falsehood ran throughout the entire tenure of Trump’s administration even though it was demonstrated to be borne from corruption.

Claremont Institute Fellow Ben Weingarten defined the ruling class as the “the bipartisan political establishment and its adjuncts in Big Tech, the corporate media, Big Business and Woke Capital, the academy.” Above all else, he credits Trump with having “exposed the unprecedented degree of rot and corruption that pervades the American system.”

Though the media whines about Trump’s now culturally ingrained designation of “fake news,” Americans see through the narrative, activism, and personal views replacing actual reporting. Members of the ruling class, as defined by Weingarten, talk only among themselves and view average Americans as those who can’t be trusted with our own earnings, decisions, or a uniform set of facts to make electoral choices.

Dr. Thomas Sowell, in his timeless 1995 book The Vision of the Anointed, eloquently captures the ruling class’s condescension for the average American as he speaks of the need for instilling love of country and refining the skills of each individual for maximum opportunity. Sowell, one of America’s most brilliant conservative minds, points out that members of America’s ruling class consider themselves the anointed who answer every problem with government growth. Sowell declares, “In short, the anointed … make yet another group feel like victims and to regard the anointed as their rescuers.” One clear application of this principle right now is the media coverage of COVID. Governments are simultaneously looked to as saviors and blamed for every upswing in numbers.

Perhaps our current president’s greatest achievement has been to expose the anointed ruling class, especially the media, and its careful redefining of our culture. We are told that life is just a clump of cells, marriage is just a certification of “love,” going to college for “free” is a right, religious faith should be replaced with social justice, and so many more lies.

Let us end corruption, condescension, and the coordinated effort to destroy our society. Let us not forget what Trump has done for our country.
