Re: “‘To Bear Arms’ Is Not a Right, Says Ninth Circuit

“The Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says: ‘The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.’ Once created, the state represents the power of the people. The right to openly carry arms, if allowed, is a function that states seem to
have accepted. The Second Amendment does not just simply say, ‘The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’ What the full Second Amendment and the
Tenth Amendment mean is for the states to decide. Rights do not come without responsibilities. Each State, which can give the right to open carry, can also assign responsibilities to this and other such rights.” —Illinois

“You seem to be splitting hairs between the right to bear arms and to open carry. We do have the right to bear arms. Everyone does not need to open carry, and there are a lot of people I don’t want to open carry. I don’t trust everyone and a lot of people aren’t trained well enough or have enough common sense to use a firearm appropriately.” —Michigan

Re: “Biden: A Border Crisis ‘Happens Every Year’

“To state that a border crisis happens every year is beyond belief. It is as
though he expects hundreds of thousands of illegal criminals, and they are criminals if they enter the United States without immigration processing under the laws of the U.S. Who or what has given the executive branch the authority to totally abandon the enforcement of the immigration laws existing today? Why aren’t the elements that are assisting the violation of those laws being prosecuted by the DOJ?” —Florida

Re: “Why DC Statehood Is a Constitutional No-No

“The original states actually ceded part of their land to create the district. According to the Constitution, you can’t create a state within other states, but the district could possibly return parts of the district to the original states.” —Maryland

“If they want to cede land out of the federal district, then it rightfully belongs to Maryland and should be given back. Any attempt to make it its own state is counter to all that the Founders intended.” —Texas

“Here’s a more constitutionally correct ‘solution’ to a nonexistent problem: 1. Recognizing that a good many denizens of Washington, DC, are ‘temporary’ pending the outcome of the next election, let them vote absentee in whatever state they were elected from. 2. Bureaucrats, shop owners, tradesmen, nannies, masseuses, and other permanent residents inside the boundaries of DC can, for the purpose of national elections, be allowed to CHOSE which state they wish to be considered a resident of for federal election purposes and given absentee ballots. Simple, easy, and within the limits of the Constitution. This should have been done long ago … say, maybe 1779?” —Florida
