Wednesday Short Cuts

Notable quotables from Dennis Prager, James Carville, Jen Psaki, and more.

Insight: “I may not agree with what you say, but to the death I will defend your right to say it.” —Voltaire (1694-1778)

Observations: “Leftism has always been a secular religion. It kills traditional religion and presents itself as a secular alternative. It certainly provides meaning. ‘Anti-racism’ and saving the world from a threat to its very existence (global warming) are two prominent life-filling examples. Therefore, the only way to prevent the left from destroying America and its core value of freedom is to make the case for Judeo-Christian religions, the importance of marriage and family, and the unique achievement of America as the world’s first and greatest multiracial, multiethnic, multinational society. Americans should have been making that case in every generation. Post-World War II, they forgot, or never really believed, that the land of the free is, as former President Ronald Reagan warned, always just one generation away from losing its freedom.” —Dennis Prager

Re: The Left: “There is something wretched about rich, college-educated ‘humanitarians’ pontificating about the sacrifices that must be made to stop global warming, but then they come up with plans that make other people — often who make far less money than they do — suffer all the pain. If climate change meant every college professor, media personality and million-dollar donor to the Environmental Defense Fund had to lose their livelihoods, I doubt they would be so supportive of this green economic ‘transformation.’” —Stephen Moore

For the record: “Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) estimates that approximately 10% of military personnel — or as many as 250,000 troops — may be white supremacists. While Sen. Blumenthal is slandering our men and women in uniform, it’s worth remembering that he lied about his military service in Vietnam. Last week, Admiral Charles Richard, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, and General James Dickinson, commander of the U.S. Space Command, testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee. When pressed about the number of extremists in the military, it must have come as a shock to Sen. Blumenthal that both men said there were ‘zero’ extremists in their commands. Instead of worrying about getting non-existent extremists out of the military, maybe there should be more focus on getting provable liars out of the United States Senate!” —Gary Bauer

Friendly fire: “Wokeness is a problem and we all know it. … We have to speak the way regular people speak, the way voters speak. It ain’t complicated. That’s how you connect and persuade. And we have to stop allowing ourselves to be defined from the outside.” —James Carville

Non compos mentis: “The president’s view is that bringing the country together is bringing the American people together. So, when I say … he is focused on bringing … Democrats and Republicans together, he’s not talking about solving bipartisanship in … this zip code here.” —White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki

Saying the quiet part out loud: “[Kamala Harris’s] focus is not on the border.” —Jen Psaki

Race bait: “Kids are finally returning to school. But most of them are white.” —Politico headline

And last… “I’m not sure if we need police reform so much as we need media reform because it’s been a decade of the media really telling lies about the state of policing in this country.” —Mollie Hemingway
