I guess black males are the only people on the planet to be involved in police shootings. Black people make up only 13% of the population, but it seems like every massive news story involves an “unarmed” black male being shot by police. Are black males being disproportionately harassed by police? Do police have an infrared target placed on every black male in America? Are police on a rampage to eliminate the black male species? These questions are dumb in nature, but I must go crash-test in dummy mode to psychologically reverse the whirlwind of media messaging dumped on Americans.

At this point, I honestly believe that many black males have checked out of life and invested their thoughts on death. To be exact, it’s called suicidal ideation. The term “suicidal ideation” refers to thoughts that life is not worth living, ranging in intensity from fleeting thoughts to well-thought-out plans for killing oneself to a complete preoccupation with self-destruction. On a range of self-destructive risk factors, the level of suicidal ideation can vary from person to person.

There are two types of suicidal ideation: passive and active. Passive suicidal ideation is thinking about not wanting to live or imagining being dead. Active suicidal ideation is thinking about different ways to die or forming a plan to die.

Most people who have suicidal thoughts do not go on to make suicide attempts, but suicidal thoughts are considered a risk factor. According to the Centers for Disease Control a few years back, an estimated 8.3 million adults aged 18 and over in the United States, or 3.7% of the adult population, reported having suicidal thoughts in the previous year. An estimated 2.2 million in the U.S. reported having made suicide plans in 2014. Suicidal thoughts are also common among teenagers.

What do you call a person who refuses to comply with direct orders from law enforcement officers to “stand down,” “drop your weapon,” or “put your hands where I can see them”? What do you call a person who willfully disobeys commands to “stop,” “freeze,” or “stop resisting”? I call them crazy, but to be politically correct, let’s just say they’re suffering from suicidal ideation.

Police want to go home after an eight-hour shift on their beats patrolling the community. Typical black males, on the other hand, behave in a way that will get them laid to rest in a body bag. They have a case of active suicidal ideation and use police to do their bidding. It takes boldness in a backwards-thinking kind of way to take a bullet to your own head.

Black males are playing a game of Russian Roulette with the police and losing in a major way.

Russian Roulette is a lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against his or her head, and pulls the trigger in hopes that the loaded chamber does not align with the primer percussion mechanism and the trigger goes boom. What “hope” is there with a loaded pistol to your skull? There is a one in three chance that you will die. This probability does not change with any number of spins. “Play stupid games, win…” well, you know the rest.

It’s almost like these black men are using “death by a cop” as a life insurance policy to get a payment from their local city government in a “wrongful death” claim. Unfortunately, it’s working. Across this country, millions of dollars are being thrown to families even when the shooting was justified. Go figure. Black death matters to these charlatans, including the black ambulance chasers. That’s black privilege if you ask me.
