The Patriot Post® · Media Destroy Their Own Credibility
“As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of the Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons, photographs — to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance.” —George Orwell, 1984
“Look, some things may be true even if Donald Trump said them.” —Jonathan Karl, ABC News
In a single sentence stated to Martha Raddatz during an exchange on “This Week,” Jonathan Karl summed up the wholesale corruption that attends mainstream media giants and their Big Tech collaborators — and the utter contempt they have for anyone who challenges their narrative. Quite simply, as long as there was a 2020 presidential election in doubt, Donald Trump and anyone else who even suggested that COVID-19 originated in a lab in Wuhan, China, was dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist.”
The self-aggrandizing “fact-checkers” at Snopes epitomized part of this coordinated effort. Citing an interview between Tucker Carlson and Chinese virologist Dr. Li-Meng Yan, during which Yan insisted the virus was made in a lab, Snopes labeled the assertion “controversial and outright false” and further insisted “conspiracy theorists have peddled notions that the virus was made in a lab and intentionally released as a biological weapon despite rigorous scientific research proving otherwise.”
Facebook epitomized the other half of the equation, enacting a policy whereby all claims that “COVID-19 is man-made or manufactured” would be deleted.
In short, anything challenging the idea that the virus originated in nature was either ridiculed or censored.
Historian Victor Davis Hanson reminds us how virulent the mendaciousness truly was. “Do we remember last year’s ‘science’ behind the origins of the Wuhan virus?” he writes. “Our alphabetized bicoastal ‘medical professionals’ followed the ‘science’ in assuring us that the virus originated with bats — or were they pangolins? — in a ‘wet’ meat market. The scientific chorus echoed the ‘impossibility’ that the ‘viral sequencing’ could ever have been altered by humans. To suggest so, was racist, xenophobic, Trumpian, and backward.”
Now that Trump has lost election, the very same media and Big Tech have “suddenly” discovered the lab leak theory has credibility after all — even if they’ve completely lost theirs as a result.
A couple of before and after headlines, from the Washington Post and the New York Times, reveal just how thoroughly the ostensible news sources discredited themselves. “After Wuhan mission on pandemic origins, WHO team dismisses lab leak theory,” stated the Post headline on February 9, 2021. May 25? “Timeline: How the Wuhan lab-leak theory suddenly became credible,” the paper stated. On April 12, the Times headline was, “Why Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories Flourish. And Why It Matters.” May 27? “Good morning. The lab-leak theory is everywhere. We have an explainer.”
The “explainer” would make Orwell blush. Columnist David Leonhardt first insists that “not much has not changed,” adding, “From the beginning, the virus’s origin has been unclear.” He then states that the dismissal of a lab origin was “a classic example of groupthink, exacerbated by partisan polarization.”
Not partisan polarization. Orchestrated progressive propagandizing that, as Hanson also reminds us, was not simply about debunking the lab origin theory but relying on so-called unimpeachable sources like Dr. Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates, to assure us that China “had no reason to hide anything” and “was doing its best as a good global citizen to join in the global effort to stop this naturally occurring virus.”
No one has squandered his credibility more than Fauci, and yet CNN dupe Chris Cillizza was one of many journalists more than willing to carry his water. On May 5, 2020, Cillizza triumphantly declared that Fauci “just crushed” Trump’s theory on the origins of the coronavirus. “Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species,” Fauci stated at the time.
That was enough for Cillizza. With immense self-satisfaction, he declared, “Now, before we play the game of ‘he said, he said’ remember this: Only one of these two people is a world-renowned infectious disease expert. And it’s not Donald Trump.”
Fauci on May 23, 2021? “I think we should continue to investigate what went on in China until we continue to find out to the best of our ability what happened.”
Cillizza a day later? “The origins of the virus remain not fully known. Tracing that is, at root, [is] a medical and public health question — not a political one,” he writes.
And just like that, Cillizza crushed himself.
As for Fauci, his newfound skepticism is likely based on the reality that the NIH he led gave $3.7 million in funding to a New York-based nonprofit, EcoHealth Alliance, run by British-born Dr. Peter Daszak, who then gave nearly $600,000 of that funding to help fund the gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute — the same Peter Daszak chosen by the WHO as the sole American representative to take part in its phony investigation of the Wuhan lab.
Moreover, during questioning by Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), Fauci revealed how ideologically compromised he truly is. His insistence he never gave the Wuhan lab any money for gain-of-function research precipitated an astounding exchange. “Here’s where I’m getting at: You gave them money, and you said, ‘Don’t do gain-of-function research’?” Kennedy asked. “Correct,” Fauci responded. “And they said, ‘We won’t’?” Kennedy inquired. “Correct,” stated Fauci.
Kennedy pressed further. “And you have no way of knowing whether they did or not, except you trust them. Is that right?” he asked. “Well, we generally always trust the grantee to do what they say, and you look at the results,” Fauci answered.
Finally, the most obvious question of all. “Have you ever had a grantee lie to you?” Kennedy asked. “I cannot guarantee that a grantee has not lied to us because you never know,” Fauci answered.
Today, there’s a lot Fauci seemingly doesn’t know, including the reality that Chinese scientists deemed “competent” and “trustworthy” by him can be compelled to do virtually anything by their communist government overlords.
Yet what Fauci did know is damning: Emails obtained by BuzzFeed courtesy of an FOIA reveal NIH scientist Kristian Andersen told him the Wuhan coronavirus looked “potentially engineered” — on January 31, 2020.
Tellingly, Fauci’s increasing lack of credibility makes him the perfect shill for a Biden administration that shut down an investigation by the Trump administration’s State Department into COVID-19’s origin, because Team Biden doubted the “legitimacy of the findings.” The administration is now conducting one of its own probes and is supposed to report back to Biden 82 days from today.
What can Americans expect? As Hanson puts it, “The enemy of science is always dogma.”
No doubt. But the enemy of truth is money, and to believe America’s globalist elites and their media lapdogs are prepared to hold China responsible for anything that might reflect badly on their bottom lines is to ignore the immutable reality that they have sold their collective souls to communist thugs — while a thoroughly duplicitous media have protected their interests, every step of the way.
That those thugs are responsible for more than half a million dead Americans? “I think a lot of people have egg on their face,” Karl stated.
Not egg on their face, Jonathan. Blood on their hands.
