Re: “Afghanistan: Our Troops Deserved a Better End

“The Biden administration wanted to avoid a ‘camera-ready’ departure in the daylight when all the international press could film the troops climbing aboard aircraft. The parallel would be drawn to the evacuation of the embassy in Saigon. One would think our government would have given the Afghan government a ‘heads-up’ so the weapons and material could be safeguarded from looters. In the long run, our 20-year presence will make no difference. Alexander the Great didn’t. The British Empire didn’t. The Soviet Union didn’t. It remains to be seen if the Chinese occupation (yet to come) will make any difference.” —Texas

“Those translators and their families and anyone else who assisted the U.S. in Afghanistan should immediately be put on aircraft and ships and brought directly to the United States.  Immediately. Like today or tomorrow. There is no reason to have to wait for visas. If criminals can wade the Rio Grande and disappear into the American hinterland, surely Afghan friends of  America should be brought here before they are murdered. Bring them here — NOW!” —Ohio

Re: “Will Democrats Support the Cuban Uprising?

“An open letter to the Cuban government: ‘Gentlemen: It has come to our attention that you are being plagued with protests and demonstrations from anti-communist Cubans. As we are also plagued, although with pro-communists, we propose a one-for-one trade of your communist-haters for our communist-lovers. We are prepared to provide airliners and/or cruise ships to facilitate the trade within minutes of your acceptance of our offer.’” —Missouri

Re: “Hard Left Goes Cold Mic on Cuba

“This is not the first time that the Democrats have thrown Cuba under the bus. Remember the Bay of Pigs failed invasion under President Kennedy? The U.S. promised air cover for the Cuban revolutionaries but Kennedy called it off at the last minute, leaving them to be slaughtered. Also, President Clinton utilized jack-booted thugs to force a Cuban boy, who had successfully made it to Florida and freedom, to be returned to Cuba.” —Pennsylvania

Re: “Trump Draws a Crowd at CPAC

“Donald Trump is correct that he could beat Kamala Harris. But that begs the issue of whether Trump can actually win in 2024. Wowing them at CPAC doesn’t get it done. What Trump can do, if he is so inclined, is to ensure a Republican win in 2024 and cement a conservative majority throughout this decade. He is a lightning rod; there are a substantial number of people in both parties who would support much of his agenda but would not vote for him — a view proven to be shortsighted, but not rare. (Of course, there are some who would vote for Trump regardless of his agenda, too). A Trump agenda with Trump’s support but without Trump would capture many of those voters and, just as importantly, deny them to the Democrats.” —Virginia

Re: “J.D. Vance From Hillbilly to Senator?

“This nation is now (or should be) entrenched with the reality that many of those in government are in it for themselves. Our Deep State political environment has become like capitalism on steroids, except that government bureaucrats needn’t work hard to best their competition in a free market. Instead, they just need to win a seat in government and jealously hold onto it. The benefits are many and come at taxpayers’ expense. I’ll take a hillbilly who sees and will fight this burgeoning oppressive oligarchy over anyone of a liberal bent who will ignore it at best and feed off of it at worst. Let’s hope J.D. Vance is worthy of our support.” —Illinois

Re: “Women: You Can Save America

“My wife told me something back in the early ‘90s I will not forget. We were raising our two girls in middle and high school. We both worked long hours. We just got home from the store. After we got all the groceries inside, we were putting them away and talking. She said the girls needed rides to and from an event. Then she said, 'And I’m a cab driver.’ I offered but it was during my work hours. She looked at me and said with a clinical tone, ‘If I get anymore liberated, I think it’s going to kill me.’ We both were silent, and then busted up into laughter. It’s so true, even with a helpful husband, that the children leave more for moms to do. Having children is a ministry and requires sacrifice and selflessness. Ready? If not, stay celibate.” —Oregon

Re: “WH to Hide Buyers of Hunter Biden’s Art

“‘If Joe Biden were truly concerned about preventing any semblance of influence peddling, he’d tell Hunter to at least wait until after his term as president was up before selling his artwork. Hunter spending another three and a half years honing his craft…’ Hence the rush. Does any serious person really believe that Joe Biden will still be the president three and half years from now? I’m fairly astonished he hasn’t already been urged to step down and ‘spend more time with his family.’” —Georgia
