Don’t Go Woke When Your Corporate Name Is ‘American’…
American Express and Bank of America succumb to the woke indoctrination mob.
In 2021, even business is considered by progressives as a political tool to address the manufactured injustices and oppressions that are peddled to keep up the victim mentality. Businesses, in the mind and views of the political Left, exist as social programs. As a result, corporations are now embracing the “woke” philosophy.
Christopher Rufo of the Manhattan Institute notes that companies like American Express and Bank of America show their political wokeness through “radical, pseudoscientific concepts of critical race theory,” which pushes “intensely ideological messages on their employees: including race-based collective guilt.”
In his article, “Bank of Amerika,” Rufo reveals whistleblower information from within the corporate giant about the company sending employees (voluntarily) through a racial reeducation program called the “Racial Equity 21-Day Challenge.” He writes, “Bank of America’s North Carolina and Charlotte market president Charles Bowman announced a new ‘equity’ initiative called United in Action, in partnership with the United Way of Central Carolinas. According to documents I have obtained from a whistleblower, BOA executives launched the initiative by encouraging employees to participate in their ‘Racial Equity 21-Day Challenge,’ a race-training program funded in part by the bank and built on the principles of critical race theory, including intersectionality, white privilege, white fragility, and systemic racism.”
The day-to-day curriculum is exposed for teaching “employees that the United States is a ‘racialized society’” that uses “race to establish and justify systems of power, privilege, disenfranchisement, and oppression.” The next three days of this challenge has employees being taught “about intersectionality, unconscious bias, microaggressions, and systemic racism.”
The curriculum declared, “Racism in America idolizes White physical features and White values as supreme over those of others,” which yields the white “dominant culture.” This woke initiative goes on to assert that people of color “cannot be racist, because racism is used to justify the position of the dominant group.” White employees are assigned the roles of oppressors who must confront their “white privilege” and “white fragility” in order to “discover where [they] are on the privilege spectrum” and “if [they] exhibit ‘white fragility’ traits.”
Yes, there are “diagnostic tests” that provide specific labels to identify these employees’ place on a racism spectrum. The corporate indoctrination course concludes by encouraging the bank employees to become “woke at work” and to “decolonize your mind.” This corporation, named for our great nation, became successful by relying on risk, investment, merit, market forces, and capitalism and is now feeding this race-hustling bilge to its employees. Even though it’s a voluntary program, it’s anti-American.
American Express, another name synonymous with capitalism, made a $2.3 billion profit last quarter while it rolled out its “Anti-Racism Initiative.” A race-hustling consulting group had AMEX employees “deconstruct their own intersectional identities, mapping their race, sexual orientation, body type, religion, disability status, age, gender identity [and] citizenship onto an official company worksheet,” says Rufo in a separate piece in the New York Post.
Not only were company documents used to record the analysis by this woke consulting firm, but explicit instructions were given to white employees to “identify the privileges or advantages you have” since, clearly, all non-minorities are oppressors and are to be shamed accordingly. The American Express employees were warned to avoid phrases such as “We are all human beings” and “Everyone can succeed in this society if they work hard enough.” These statements are deemed by the race-hustling consultants as microaggressions.
Acknowledging equality is racist. Who knew Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was guilty of microaggressions?
The American Express woke work concluded as the company hosted Khalil Muhammad, the great-grandson of the Nation of Islam founder, who declared that capitalism was founded on racism and “racist logics and forms of domination.” Employees were directed to resources to “learn about covert white supremacy” and to overcome “our country’s racist heritage” while listening to podcasts about abolishing prisons, policing, and surveillance of the convicted.
The political Left is not just promoting class warfare and envy as the economic policy of its radical base. Leftists are actively embracing Marxism, which they’ve been teaching in universities for decades, as the foundation of their party’s progressivism. In the name of equal outcomes, free markets will be blamed and destroyed while equal opportunity grows extinct. Society will be grouped only into victims (not making personal choices based on personal responsibility) and aggressors (shamed for thinking hard work can move toward success).
Those companies that embrace this race-hustling will likely find themselves extorted for more and more funds by consultants, experts, and causes demanding payment for politically defined victims and acts of oppression. Yet the crisis at hand is that some of our most trusted institutions and entities founded on freedom are now operating on the divisive Critical Race Theory.
That which gets woke will go broke while also breaking our great American way of life honoring individual equality, responsibility, and potential.
