There’s bad news for the Democrat Party in Florida, as recent new voter registration totals reveal a steady trend of more voters registering as Republican than Democrat. In fact, the Democrats once had a commanding lead of 700,000 more registered voters than Republicans back in 2008, when Barack Obama won the Sunshine State. That lead has almost entirely evaporated — it’s down to only 23,055.

The situation for Democrats has gotten so bad that Steve Schale, a Florida Democrat consultant, recently warned: “Without a full-frontal, professional and accountable partisan effort to turn it around, sometime before the end of this year, there will be more Republicans registered in Florida than Democrats — that has NEVER happened before. And, given their voters have higher turnout scores — this isn’t a great place to start.”

Of course, this should come as good news not only for Republicans and Florida but for any freedom-loving American. The Democrat Party has become the party of intolerance and authoritarianism as it has been progressively taken over by the radical socialist Left. And that more than anything else is why Florida is fast moving from a swing state to becoming a solid red state.

There has long been a pipeline between Florida and New York. Florida was the place to vacation and retire for many folks raised in the Empire State. But it’s not just sunshine and beaches that has drawn New Yorkers; increasingly, it has been a sharp distinction in political policies. Florida, with its friendlier tax codes and business climate, has been attracting New Yorkers and other blue-state residents who are fleeing Democrat-run states.

Just as Californians fed up with the Democrats’ longtime mismanagement of the Golden State have fled to the greener pastures of states like Texas, New Yorkers are fleeing to Florida. In fact, Florida and Texas may serve as microcosms of the geographic political polarization happening across the entire country. To put it succinctly, blue states are becoming bluer and red states are becoming redder.

Judging by the results of the 2020 census, it would appear that the more appealing states — and thus the ones attracting more population growth on a whole — are the red states. And Florida’s voter registration trends appear to back this up. Republicans would be wise to continue standing as the party most dedicated to protecting Liberty.
