“We will get it under control,” said Joe Biden as his handlers whisked him through a hallway and past reporters at the United Nations building yesterday.

The question was, “What’s your reaction to the images from the southern border?” And the images the reporter was referring to were those of the 15,000 or so Haitian immigrants whom Biden himself, by dint of his America-wrecking policies, invited to journey from their island nation over open seas, through Mexico, and across the Rio Grande to take up in the dirt beneath a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

Our sense is that Biden would’ve blurted out the same response had that journalist asked him about, say, the continuing chaos in Afghanistan, or China’s naked aggression, or his failure to support Liberty-loving Cuban dissidents, or his Nord Stream 2 pipeline gift to Vladimir Putin, or our nation’s newly shattered relationship with France, or his morale-destroying social experimentation with our Armed Forces, or his man-causedinflation, or his ruinous runaway spending, or the designated hitter rule.

But as for the border crisis, remember: This was a man who, as a presidential candidate, shamelessly pandered to his base by saying: “What I would do as president … I would in fact make sure that there is, we immediately surge to the border all those people who are seeking asylum. … We’re a nation that says ‘If you want to flee, and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come.’”

Talk about an open invitation to chaos, crisis, and human misery. The only question is whether Joe Biden is simply idiotic or is bent on changing the face of America.

Yes, Scranton Joe was at the UN to give a doctrinaire globalist speech, and, yes, his handlers hoped his scripted words would reassure the world that there really is someone in charge here in the United States. But we mention our southern border because Biden didn’t mention it. Nor did he mention either of our nation’s leading geopolitical foes, Russia or China.

Actually, it’s a wonder we even heard from Biden at all yesterday, given the health concerns of his UN ambassador. “We are concerned about the UN event being a superspreader event,” said Linda Thomas-Greenfield, “and that we need to take all measures to ensure that it does not become a superspreader event.”

Translation: We’re going to use COVID as an excuse to limit Joe Biden’s exposure to other world leaders.

So what exactly did he talk about? Global warming, mostly. In fact, he mentioned the word “climate” a full 15 times, even though climate change shows up on only a handful of Americans’ Top 10 lists. Biden did, however, mention that military power “must be our tool of last resort, not our first, and it should not be used as an answer to every problem we see around the world.” Yeah, except when he needs to show how tough he is after a suicide bomber kills 13 of our warriors in an attack he knew was coming. In that case, his administration can order a hasty and ill-advised and politically motivated drone attack on a non-terrorist target, killing 10 innocent people, seven of them Afghan children. No mention of that appalling failure during yesterday’s UN speech, though.

We’ve come to expect Joe Biden to put America last, and he didn’t disappoint. “America is back,” he crowed back in June at the G7 Summit in England. But times have changed.

“The United States will compete, and will compete vigorously, and lead with our values and our strength. We’ll stand up for our allies and our friends,” Biden said without a hint of self-awareness. Oh, we’ll do all those things, except when we’re cutting and running, retreating and surrendering, leaving behind American citizens and our brave allies in Taliban-controlled terrorist hotbeds such as Afghanistan.

Biden also pledged his unequivocal support to Israel, around the same time his House Democrats were denying the Jewish state our support for its Iron Dome missile defense system, and coercing Israel to negotiate with its terrorist neighbors, Hamas. “But I continue to believe that a two-state solution is the best way to ensure Israel — Israel’s future as a Jewish, democratic state living in peace alongside a viable, sovereign, and democratic Palestinian state,” he said. Yeah, right.

In perhaps his most tone-deaf remark of the day, Biden talked about freedom: “The future will belong to those who give their people the ability to breathe free,” he read, “not those who seek to suffocate their people with an iron hand.”

Nope, we’re not living under an “iron hand” here in the good ol’ US of A, not with Joe Biden’s iron-handed vaccination mandate or the masks that literally don’t allow us to breathe free. In Biden’s defense, perhaps his team wrote this speech a couple of weeks ago and forgot to delete this ridiculous sentence.

As Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton, an Afghanistan war veteran who serves on the Armed Services Committee, put it, “Joe Biden walked into the United Nations today and put a giant ‘Kick Me’ sign on Uncle Sam’s back.” And as for Biden’s refusal to even mention Communist China during his 30-minute address, Cotton said, “He was like a scared child in a Harry Potter novel who wouldn’t say Voldemort’s name because he was afraid of what would happen to him.”

In the end, Biden’s predictable speech won’t do anything to repair his reputation. The rest of the world is onto him by now. But, as the New York Post editorial board quipped, “Joe Biden’s nearly 40-minute talk Tuesday actually challenged global leaders … to stay awake.”

But buck up, Biden voters. A Des Moines Register poll released yesterday put your guy’s approval number at 31%, with 62% disapproving and 7% afraid to disapprove for fear of an IRS tax audit. His numbers in battleground Michigan aren’t too much better.

Elections have consequences. And we, the American people, are learning this lesson well. Eight months down, 40 more to go.
