The Patriot Post® · Blumenthal the Closet Commie
It’s rich indeed that Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, who married into a real-estate fortune estimated at $100 million, would be the “special surprise guest” at an award ceremony for a Communist Party USA front group. But there he was on Saturday, looking utterly unashamed. So much for the workers of the world, eh, Dick? So much for the proletariat and the class struggle.
The event was the Connecticut People’s World Committee’s annual Amistad Awards, and it marked the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the CPUSA. It’s rich, too, that these commies would name their awards after the Amistad, a New Haven-based slave ship made famous by the mutiny of its 53 African prisoners — rich because of communism’s irrefutable legacy of enslaving, brutalizing, and murdering untold millions of people worldwide.
“I am really excited and honored to be with you today and share in this remarkable occasion,” Blumenthal said. And indeed, it was a remarkable occasion, because Blumenthal would soon present each of three ardent communists with a certificate of special recognition — from the United States Senate.
Perhaps Blumenthal knew that word of his attendance at such a disgracefully anti-American event would leak out, so he prefaced his remarks by saying that he doesn’t have to agree with everything the CPUSA stands for in order to acknowledge “the great tradition of activism and standing up for individual workers that is represented by the three honorees.”
Perhaps he also thought his attendance would be a great way to drum up support for Joe Biden’s moribund BuildBilk Back Better plan. “There’s a lot to be working for in economic justice, in racial equity, in establishing a $15 minimum wage,” Blumenthal said, “and holding corporations accountable for the basic treatment of the American people. We need to look at our entire tax system, beginning with Build Back Better.”
Yeah, Dick, by all means. With rampant inflation imposing a brutal hidden tax on all Americans — a tax that hits the working class harder than any other group — let’s sign on for more spending with Scranton Joe’s $2 trillion-plus Big Government boondoggle.
We thought “Da Nang Dick” Blumenthal had hit rock bottom back in 2010, when he lied about having fought in the Vietnam War. As it turns out, he’d merely “misspoken” about his service and just hadn’t been “clear or precise.” Uh-huh.
Stolen valor is about as bad as it gets, but sympathizing with commies isn’t much better.
In concluding his remarks, Blumenthal, this most useful of idiots, thanked the audience for their “help and support over many, many years.” (If anyone ever doubted that there was common cause between garden-variety Democrats and hardline communists, let those remarks sink in.)
Emcee Ben McManus then closed out the evening’s events by inviting all the commie fence-sitters to take The Red Leap. “We invite you to join the Communist Party in this epic time,” he said, “as we make good trouble to uproot systemic racism, retool the war economy, tax the rich, address climate change, secure voting rights and create a new socialist system that puts people, peace and planet before profits.”
Thanks for the invitation to take up the Democrat Party platform, Ben. But we’re good.
