“Welcome to Florida, AOC! We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to [Ron DeSantis’ Florida] leadership,” read a post from the Republican Florida governor’s social media team following the publishing of pictures of a maskless Democrat New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez enjoying a cocktail in Miami.

Amidst another surge in COVID cases across the nation, and especially in AOC’s home state of New York, where officials reported another 40,000 new cases of the Omicron variant in a single day, the House’s foremost diva was caught partying it up in Miami. She was taking full advantage of DeSantis’s defense of Liberty.

Of course, like all leftists, AOC was more than happy to enjoy the fruits of Liberty while condemning its defenders. “Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks?” AOC lamely responded to being called out over her hypocrisy. “If he’s around,” she added, “I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks. In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing. Folks are quite receptive here :)”

Well, failure to do the work to actually understand how real life works, how one really cares for people rather than promoting an agenda centered around gaining political power, may explain in part why AOC and her cadre of socialists are so wrong on nearly every aspect of good governance.

It might not be a good idea to blindly insult a political opponent before knowing what you’re talking about. As it turns out, DeSantis has not been MIA. Quite the contrary, in fact. He has been busy doing what any good husband — and human being, for that matter — would be doing. DeSantis has not been vacationing and neglecting his duties, as AOC suggested. Instead, he’s been helping his wife through her cancer treatment recovery. Back in October, the mother of three was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Perhaps we need to cut AOC some slack, since the source for her erroneous information appears to be Leftmedia outlets suggesting that DeSantis’s lack of public appearances since December 20 was due to him going on vacation to hide from a surge in COVID cases. That was fake news, but AOC is clearly not informed enough to know any better. However, what she does know is that freedom is still going strong in Florida, whereas residents of New York City continue to suffer through economy-crushing COVID restrictions that haven’t done a thing to stop the spread of the novel virus.

Finally, we wish Casey DeSantis a speedy and full recovery from cancer and her husband a 2022 reelection victory. Few states have enjoyed such strong leadership from a governor committed to defending the rights of his residents in the face of one of the biggest authoritarian threats to Liberty Americans have seen in generations.
