The Patriot Post® · WaPo Rewards Its Russian-Collusion Propagandist
The Washington Post announced that it has elevated national editor Steven Ginsberg to senior managing editor leading its main news sections. So what? you may say. Well, the Post praised Ginsberg for having “led the organization’s political coverage through the Trump years,” adding that he “helped propel the company to one of its most successful periods with reporting that brought Pulitzer Prizes along with enormous readership.”
Ah — so his Trump Derangement Syndrome became a cash cow.
If The Washington “Democracy Dies in Darkness” Post were being more journalistically honest, it would have fired Ginsberg, not promoted him. Ginsberg played a key role in repeatedly peddling anti-Trump propaganda and downright fake news, including pushing the Russian-collusion hoax for years. The Post got its reporting so wrong that, in an effort to regain some semblance of journalistic credibility, the paper issued corrections on two of its biggest “bombshell” collusion stories — conveniently only after Donald Trump was no longer in office.
Ginsberg, who has worked his entire professional career for the Post, responded to the promotion by stating that he plans to do “what I’ve always done: work with the best journalists to do the best journalism.” He further added, “We have huge ambitions … [but] the core of our mission is still the same — to hold power to account.” Evidently, he forgot to mention the Post’s exception to that sentiment, which is if those in power happen to be Democrats.
The mission for the Jeff Bezos-owned Washington Post was not to objectively cover Trump’s candidacy or presidency, but rather to do everything in its power to undermine Trump with the American public by ensuring that all reporting on the man was negative, even to the point of publishing fake news.
The Post’s promotion of Ginsberg further cements the sad fact that the once-reputable paper is nothing more than a leftist political shill. It’s become nothing more than the publishing arm of the Democrat Party, doing little other than producing propaganda for the Left’s agenda.
Meanwhile the New York Post editors offer a look back at the Pulitzer organization’s disgraceful WaPo and NYT awards, noting of the Pulitzer board’s bloviation regarding the winners: “[R]eading these pieces four years later, one is struck not only by how irrelevant they are, but how shlocky — tinged with a McCarthyist alarmism of a red under every bed. Two major newspapers that hold themselves up as the pinnacle of press freedom, the "truth dies in darkness” brigade and all that, pushed a conspiracy theory. As a lesson in mass delusion, it’s worth going through the 20 stories that make up the Post and the Times’ award-winning series to show just how damaging they were: to the truth, to the newspapers’ reputations — and to America itself.“
Of course, ultimately once the damage had been done, once the co-conspirators had succeeded, the "Russia collusion” claims were completely debunked.
The editors conclude: This Pulitzer Prize makes a mockery of the idea that journalism speaks truth to power, as it shows how the press was manipulated by the powerful. ‘Our republic and its press will rise or fall together,“ Joseph Pulitzer once said. For the sake of both, rescind this award given in his name.’”
Not a chance.
