The Patriot Post® · O Canada!
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergencies Act, enacted in 1988 but never used until now. The protests in Canada came about because of the government’s draconian mask and vaccine mandates.
Trudeau said that invoking this emergency act will not violate the rights of Canadians spelled out in the Canadian Charter of Rights. He then proceeded to violate the rights of the participants of the Freedom Convoy, accusing them of being domestic terrorists. Why does this seem to have a familiar ring to it? The state is authorized to freeze the truckers’ finances and bank accounts. It can cancel their auto insurance and seize their vehicles, calling their peaceful protests a criminal act.
GoFundMe shut down Freedom Convoy donations after pressure here in America. The site was going to give the approximately $10 million dollars donated to charities of its own choosing (think BLM and antifa). Threats of investigations and charges from several states caused GoFundMe to refund the money.
The Christian giving platform GiveSendGo also accepted donations. That donor list was hacked, and the information was made public, resulting in reporters now contacting the donors wanting to know why they gave to the truckers’ fund. Leftists always clamor for transparency in donations. Now we know why!
Trudeau referred to the protests as a “pro-Trump” movement and said anyone supporting it should be “worried” about the security of their finances. Trudeau insists anyone who supports the convoy is a Nazi or domestic terrorist. That should calm everyone down!
It’s hard to imagine that this is happening to our neighbor and ally to the north. And here we thought Canada was a democracy? Thank God we are a Republic (if we can keep it). When Trudeau began referring to the peaceful demonstration as an “insurrection,” I assumed he was getting advice from Joe Biden.
We saw this coming … or should have. During the COVID pandemic, Canadian authorities shut down churches, fining those who refused to comply. Calgary Pastor Artur Pawloski and his brother were arrested and jailed for failing to comply.
After being released from jail, Pawloski traveled across America, warning us this would eventually happen here if we did nothing. Pawloski grew up in communist Poland, so he knows what oppression looks like. Upon returning to Canada from America, he was promptly rearrested and charged with spreading “misinformation” about the pandemic.
This past weekend, Trudeau had authorities arrest the demonstrators whom he accused of turning violent. Video of the violent truckers seems to be missing. The protesters’ trucks were towed, and their children were threatened with being removed from their families. So, these nonviolent protesters are having their livelihoods destroyed and their futures ruined because they dared to stand up against mandates that are destroying Canada’s economy. That’s what we can expect when we refuse to cower before our political elites!
We seem to see this same scenario repeated across our country and in other nations as well. Not one nation, that I am aware of, has yet to condemn Trudeau’s heavy-handed tactics. If we don’t wake up to the abuses of power taking place under the heavy hand of government, Pastor Pawloski may be saying, “I told you so!”
Something to pray about!
