It has no doubt been a frosty few days at the office for Matt Rosenberg.

Rosenberg, the New York Times’s Pulitzer Prize-winning national security correspondent (we know, we know; they’ll give a Pulitzer to any fake news hack these days), recently got caught telling some supremely inconvenient truths to an undercover journalist from Project Veritas — and these truths made his colleagues look like sissies, and the Left’s coverage of the January 6 Capitol riot seem overblown.

But the most telling and historically significant of Rosenberg’s revelations is a truth that the Leftmedia and Nancy Pelosi’s rigged “investigative” commission have worked manfully to hide from the American people: “There were a ton of FBI informants among the people who attacked the Capitol,” says Rosenberg.

And, he said, “The Left’s overreaction — the Left’s reaction to it in some places was so over the top.” Ouch. This won’t sit well with Nancy Pelosi and Liz Cheney.

Not surprisingly, Project Veritas’s latest bombshell didn’t make nightly news, and it barely made a ripple elsewhere in the corrupt corporate media. Here’s how CNN tried to downplay it: “The videos caused a stir inside The Times due, in part, to the inappropriate comments Rosenberg made about his fellow reporters. But, according to people familiar with the matter, it was seen by many journalists at The Times as part of a broader harassment and intimidation campaign Project Veritas has waged against the newspaper for reporting extensively on the inner-workings of the group.”

If calling one’s New York Times colleagues “f***ing little dweebs” and “f***ing b**ches” is perhaps a bit harsh, we’ll cede that Rosenberg did indeed make some “inappropriate” comments. But CNN said not a word in the entire article about Rosenberg’s assertions of FBI involvement and media overreaction. “They were making too big a deal,” he said of the media’s repeated assertions of widespread and detailed conspiracy among the rioters. “They were making this an organized thing that it wasn’t.”

When asked subsequently about his comments by Project Veritas founder James O'Keefe, Rosenberg said: “Will I stand by those comments? Absolutely.” And we say, good for him. Because it’s unbecoming to compound candor with cowardice. But it must be noted: Those comments undermine Rosenberg’s very own reporting, which dismissed Republican assertions of agents provocateur among the rioters as “the reimagining of January 6.”

As it turns out, then, the Right isn’t reimagining anything. They’re just trying to get at the whole truth about the events of that day.

As for the Gray Lady, there’s a massive clean-up needed on aisle 6, and that job belongs to New York Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet. At a Thursday lunch in the Times’s Washington bureau, Baquet got an earful from his reporters regarding Rosenberg’s comments, specifically his “scoffing at colleagues who were there that day who said they were traumatized” (Rosenberg was there that day, too), and about those whom Rosenberg referred to as “left-leaning younger Times reporters wrapped up in a ‘woke’ culture influencing coverage.”

And to all this we say: Good for the Times. Once again, they’ve been caught red-handed. And they need to do better. Much better.
