It’s known by the acronym “ESG,” which stands for “environmental, social, and governance responsibility.” These buzzwords have become nearly ubiquitous in corporate America to stand for proper cultural awareness, but they’re little more than code for the leftist social justice agenda.

As the Heritage Foundation’s Patrick Tyrell explains, “Environmental, social, and governance responsibility advocates force companies to take positions in the political arena on issues that may have nothing to do with the company’s actual business activities.” In other words, these activists are the leftist thought police or politically correct Karens of Wall Street, and they seek to pressure some of America’s biggest companies into not only complying with but adopting their woke agenda.

ESG is why companies like Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines have been caught indoctrinating their employees in critical race theory and promoting climate change ideology. It’s an effort by business owners and CEOs to placate the wokescolds by virtue-signaling their allegiance to the new morality so as to protect their bottom line.

This is not to say that there are not some true believers on Wall Street in the cult of woke. There is BlackRock Inc. CEO Larry Fink, who has used his position as head of one of the leading investment management firms to target specifically fossil fuel companies in an effort to get them to concede to climate change dogma, irrespective of whether its good for the company’s investors. Fink and others like him hold sway over the cultural direction of much of corporate America.

The fact is that proponents of ESG have been highly effective in cultivating leftist fascism. This reality has been most revealed with the Democrats’ incestuous relationship with Big Tech. While constitutionally speaking the government cannot censor Americans’ speech, Democrats get around this pesky restriction by appealing to Big Tech outfits like Facebook and Twitter that have been more than happy to comply — all under the guise of being private companies that are not beholden to the First Amendment. This relationship is why Facebook “whistleblower” Frances Haugen, a big advocate of government censorship, was Joe Biden’s special guest at the State of the Union.

Big Business went woke because the bottom line is what drives things, and business leaders have been convinced in some instances and bullied by special interests in others that profits are at stake. Just look at how effective the Rainbow Mafia has been in getting companies like Disney to so faithfully push leftist ideological, cultural, and political views that the supposed family entertainment giant objected to Florida’s recently passed parents’ rights law. This kind of thuggery is similar to how China has been able to essentially silence opposition to its ongoing human rights abuses, while at the same time corporate giants like Nike and Apple seemingly jump at the opportunity to blast and falsely frame America as a bastion of systemic racism.

In the end, all this political chicanery and totalitarianism boils down to money.
