This week, Democrat Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed into law a new “fundamental” right to abortion. This new law effectively takes away any rights from the preborn and is arguably the most extreme abortion law in the world, as it allows for the termination of a baby up until the point of crowning. It makes the 28-week standard set by Roe v. Wade look moderate, indeed. Sickening.

We in our humble shop are unapologetically pro-life and believe that there is virtually no circumstance that justifies the termination of a baby’s life, but the horror of aborting a full-term baby should be universally denounced as evil and morally repugnant. A child’s humanity cannot be denied even by the most fervent of pro-abortion activists.

This issue has cropped up in Washington, DC, where a pro-life activist was arrested for being in possession of five aborted babies’ remains. These aborted full-term babies were given to the activist by a whistleblower, and there is reason to believe they were murdered after birth. And yet the arresting officers were dismissive of the claim. The pro-life activist is going to be prosecuted for having these little bodies in her possession while the actual murderers are getting away scot-free. One can only assume that the same evil is going to be inflicted on babies in Colorado now that abortion all the way to birth is now legal.

“Access to abortion and reproductive health care is currently under attack across the nation,” Governor Polis rationalizes. “Impending federal court cases, including Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization … jeopardize access to legal abortion care for tens of millions of people, particularly those living in most Southern and Midwestern states.”

Polis is proud of his stance and the stance of his state. Not only is it ostensibly in defiance of “big government,” but it is to push back against other states that are willing to end the barbaric practice of abortion. In a social media post, Polis make this abundantly clear, stating: “Colorado is leading the way to protect reproductive health. Intimate personal decisions are made strictly between an individual, their doctor, and their faith. Big government should not be invited to make personal health decisions for anyone.” (Anyone except the innocent baby whose death warrant he just signed.)

Just across Colorado’s southeastern border, the state of Oklahoma is doing the exact opposite of the Centennial State. Oklahoma’s abortion bill essentially prohibits abortion except for extremely rare cases where the mother’s life is in danger. The consequences for performing an abortion are a $100,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison. This bill has not been signed into law yet, but according to State Senate President Greg Treat, it was introduced in response to the “sickening” number of abortions being performed in the Sooner State after the Texas heartbeat legislation was passed. Like Texas’s heartbeat law, the Oklahoma bill penalizes the abortion provider and not the mother.

This bill had overwhelming support and will go into effect after the Dobbs decision.
