  • Biden’s DOJ refuses to enforce law: 18 U.S. Code § 1507 explicitly prohibits people from picketing or parading with the “intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer … near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer.” Those found in violation of the law can be subject to a fine and/or imprisoned for up to one year. This federal statue is being violated by pro-abortion activists in picketing parades outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices. The rabble-rousers make no bones about the rationale for their activities, which are intended to intimidate the justices following the leak of the Supreme Court’s apparent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. That’s why Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has refused to enforce the law. Attorney General Merrick Garland has remained mum over the violations because he sees the intimidation tactics as beneficial to the Left’s political cause. Ian Prior, senior adviser of America First Legal, observes, “This administration has shown nothing but contempt for anyone that doesn’t fall in line with its radical policies and appears to be completely fine with extremist, mob-like tactics to back those policies.” Cal Thomas insightfully notes, “The refusal to enforce laws equally has contributed to a decline in the public’s trust in our institutions.”

  • NRA: West to challenge LaPierre: On Monday, former Republican Congressman Allen West announced his bid to replace Wayne LaPierre as the executive vice president of the National Rifle Association. West, who recently lost the Texas Republican gubernatorial primary, has set his sights on ousting the embattled LaPierre. “It is with sincere humility that I have consented to my nomination to be executive vice president of the National Rifle Association,” West stated. The announcement quickly sparked a response from former NRA President David Keene, who made it clear that he is not keen on West. The challenger, said Keene, is “trying to generate publicity for himself” after serving on the NRA board and dropping off “because, basically, [he] had no friends because he’s all about Allen and not about anything else.” West shot back that, as head of the “American Constitutional Rights Union and national spokesperson/senior advisor for the Patriot Academy,” he “hardly need[s] publicity.” West then noted the recent NRA financial scandals that have occurred under LaPierre’s leadership: “I think as long as we continue down this leadership path, it’s going to affect the NRA. So I’m not looking at elevating myself, I’m looking to try to restore reform and reclaim the NRA for what it was intended to be.”

  • Medical breakthrough on SIDS: The cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) has long been a mystery to medical experts. Well, that mystery may have been solved by a doctor in sleep medicine from Australia. Dr. Carmel Harrington has been studying SIDS since the death of her own two-year-old son to the syndrome over 30 years ago. What Harrington’s research team has discovered is the presence of a biochemical marker that may have a direct impact on SIDS. The biochemical marker researchers have identified is Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), which plays an important role in the brain’s arousal pathways. Researchers found that infants who died of SIDS had significantly reduced levels of BChE. “Babies have a very powerful mechanism to let us know when they are not happy,” Harrington explained. “Usually, if a baby is confronted with a life-threatening situation, such as difficulty breathing during sleep because they are on their tummies, they will arouse and cry out. What this research shows is that some babies don’t have this same robust arousal response. … Now that we know that BChE is involved we can begin to change the outcome for these babies and make SIDS a thing of the past.”
