Wednesday Executive News Summary

Tuesday’s primaries, another illegal border crossing record, Kamala sure is busy breaking ties, and more.

Top of the Fold

  • Yesterday’s primaries: winners and losers: Five states held their primary elections yesterday, which included a few notable races. The contest for Pennsylvania’s GOP Senate candidate remains too close to call, as the Donald Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz is neck and neck with David McCormick. A recount may be likely. The other big winner in PA on the Republican side is state Senator Doug Mastriano, who won the GOP’s gubernatorial nomination. Another noteworthy race down in North Carolina saw the Republicans’ youngest House representative defeated. Madison Cawthorn, despite the fact that he had been endorsed by Trump, narrowly lost to state Senator Chuck Edwards, thanks in large part to Cawthorn’s own problematic behavior. Controversies surrounding Cawthorn combined with his dishonesty regarding fellow GOP lawmakers was enough to move Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) to take the unusual step of endorsing Cawthorn’s opponent. However, North Carolina was not all bad for Trump, as another of his endorsees, Representative Ted Budd, easily won the primary for the state’s GOP Senate candidate. On the Democrat side, the far-Left had a good night. PA’s Lt. Governor John Fetterman easily defeated moderate Representative Conor Lamb. While this victory likely excites the party’s leftists, it might not bode well for Democrats in November.

  • Another illegal border crossing record: April saw a record number of 234,088 migrants caught by U.S. Customs and Border Protection illegally entering the country. This number is the highest single month total in at least a century of records and almost surely the entirety of American history. It’s also a 30% increase over last April’s total. Since Joe Biden has taken office, Border Patrol has encountered more than 2.75 million migrants, representing a massive increase over Donald Trump’s time in office. Keep in mind that April’s record total comes prior to the Biden administration’s scheduled time to end the Title 42 policy, which allows Border Patrol to immediately turn back migrants without having to go through time-consuming and arduous removal procedures due to the COVID pandemic. It’s clear that the Biden administration’s intention is to get as many illegal aliens into the U.S. as possible to bolster the Democrat Party’s ranks. Never mind the humanitarian crisis it has created, or the downward pressure on American workers’ wages, or the increase in drug trafficking and resulting death.

  • “President Unity’s” VP sure is busy breaking ties: Kamala Harris has found herself sitting in the Senate nearly as often as she did when she was a senator from California. This is due, of course, to the fact that the Senate is split 50-50 between the two parties. Thus far, and just 15 months into Biden’s term, Harris has voted 23 times to break ties, placing her third-highest all time for U.S. VP tiebreakers. Just John C. Calhoun (31) and John Adams (29) cast more tiebreaking votes. Given that it is so early in Biden’s term, Harris’s chances of jumping to the top of the list are likely, though that may assume Democrats will be able to hold onto Senate control. And that prospect is looking less and less likely by the day. Thanks to Biden and the Democrats, Americans are seeing skyrocketing gas prices, no end in sight to high inflation, and a baby formula shortage — and those are just the tip of the iceberg. So for the Leftmedia whining about how a divided Senate has kept Harris in DC and unable to get out and make a bigger impact — never mind the fact that every time she has left DC she’s done little other than embarrass herself and the Biden administration — just give it a few months. Come January, after Republicans have retaken majority control of the Senate in November’s elections, Harris will once again be free from any Senate duty, free to continue her gaffing tours.
