The Patriot Post® · Blame-Shifting Gone Wild in the White House
We can’t count the times we’ve written about Joe Biden’s declining mental acuity — and he was never the smartest guy in any room, despite his loud boasts to the contrary. Even more numerous are the times we don’t write about his gaffes, mispronunciations, and utterly unintelligible ramblings of a man who was clearly unfit for the presidency before he was elected to it.
We should all take a moment to “thank” Jill Biden, the Democrats propping him up, and the 81 million* voters who could’ve kept us from this.
Which brings us to NBC’s latest scoop: Biden’s upset with his staff for making him look incompetent and he wants better messaging.
Faced with a worsening political predicament, President Joe Biden is pressing aides for a more compelling message and a sharper strategy while bristling at how they’ve tried to stifle the plain-speaking persona that has long been one of his most potent assets.
Biden is rattled by his sinking approval ratings and is looking to regain voters’ confidence that he can provide the sure-handed leadership he promised during the campaign, people close to the president say.
“Plain-speaking”? Is that what you call him? “Sure-handed leadership”? Did anyone actually believe Biden would provide that? Indeed, NBC undermines its own argument with this bit:
Biden is unhappy about a pattern that has developed inside the West Wing. He makes a clear and succinct statement — only to have aides rush to explain that he actually meant something else. The so-called clean-up campaign, he has told advisers, undermines him and smothers the authenticity that fueled his rise. Worse, it feeds a Republican talking point that he’s not fully in command.
Where would Republicans ever get that idea?
“Biden has vented to aides about not getting credit from Americans or the news media for actions he believes have helped the country, particularly on the economy,” NBC reports. Americans are being crushed by the inflation Biden exacerbated, and he’s mad that they don’t like what he’s done. Amazing.
NBC also quotes author Chris Whipple, who’s writing a book about Biden’s presidency. “They came in with the most daunting set of challenges arguably since Franklin D. Roosevelt, only to then be hit by a perfect storm of crises, from Ukraine to inflation to the supply chain to baby formula,” he said. “What’s next? Locusts?”
Golly, Biden would be a fantastic president if it weren’t for events. That this seems to reflect Biden’s thinking is an astounding bit of blame-shifting for a guy whose primary argument for taking the job was that he’d been in The Swamp for nearly 50 years already and knows how things work.
This is the guy who, in June 2020, said: “I’ll do my job and take responsibility. I won’t blame others.” He’s done nothing but the opposite.
Instead of acknowledging that “the buck stops here,” Biden has mastered the art of blaming everyone around him. While NBC’s water carriers loyally attempted to help him out with a lot of spin, it’s obvious that the only reason there was a story in the first place is that White House staffers spoke up to air their own grievances about the boss. NBC claims to have interviewed “more than two dozen current and former administration officials, lawmakers, congressional aides and other Democrats close to the White House,” all of whom “spoke on the condition of anonymity to freely discuss the president’s private conversations.” I.e., without accountability for loose lips.
Biden has presided over 40-year-high inflation, supply chain issues, a huge missing portion of the workforce, intense and hateful political division, as well as a disastrous surrender of Afghanistan and a war in Ukraine, neither of which would have happened under his predecessor. The real wonder here is that there are so precious few Leftmedia stories about what a disaster Biden’s presidency has proved to be.
Regarding this particular story, perhaps blogger Ace of Spades said it best: “The magnitude of Joe Biden’s failures is now so large that even Joe Biden is beginning to grasp it.”
