The Patriot Post® · Pro-Abortion Violence Is Real, Even if Not Reported

It has been negligent for the Supreme Court to continue withholding its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. It’s frustrating that this hesitancy — after the leaked draft hit the pages of Politico — has created aggressive pro-abortion domestic terror cells that have been antagonizing the American public.

In the first 40 days since the leaked Supreme Court decision, there were 41 attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers. Furthermore, there have been at least nine physical attacks against pro-life activists. This political violence is something that the mainstream media will happily ignore, along with burying the assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh and promoting stories like the arrest of potential rioters against a pride parade in Idaho.

On the other hand, the Department of Homeland Security will go after the one instance of pro-life vandalism that happened in this same 40-day stretch. To quote former Press Secretary Jen Psaki, there is a “lot of passion” surrounding this issue. “Passion” is the understatement of the century. Just like the BLM rioters, pro-abortion advocates are out to prove their displeasure by vandalizing, fire-bombing, and wreaking as much havoc as they can get away with.

This escalation in violence through groups like Jane’s Revenge and Ruth Sent Us is hardly surprising. It comes from people who place an exceptionally low value on human life. But in many ways, they undermine their own argument.

Consider the targets of their aggression: churches and pregnancy crisis centers. These are places that provide community and care for women, men, and their babies. They provide medical, financial, material, and emotional support for women who have bravely chosen to keep their babies. These institutions disprove the argument that pro-lifers only care about the baby until he or she is born; that they will leave mothers to fend for themselves after the fact. And yet these are the targets pro-abortion advocates choose to attack. The reason is twofold: They tend to be soft targets, and the extremists don’t care about the mother or the child. They only care about their liberalist notion of having a “right” to abortion.

This assumed right that was supposedly “safe, legal, and rare” has morphed into a form of birth control for those who decide to engage in sexual relations but aren’t “ready” to start a family. Because their appetites are now needing to be curbed, they are furious. The common refrain on a lot of the graffiti that has appeared on the vandalized churches and pregnancy centers is the threat, “If abortion isn’t safe, you aren’t either.”

Here’s the ultimate testament of the resilience of those in the pro-life movement: They have refused to be intimidated. Those buildings that were damaged by the attacks needed to close their doors for a few days to clean up and rebuild, but closing their doors out of fear is not even on their radar. Pro-lifers have refused to stop offering care to these mothers, fathers, and babies. This is what courage looks like in the face of adversity.

So, as the country waits with bated breath for the official Supreme Court ruling, the violence against pro-life organizations and churches will continue without notice from the media. But the quiet heroism of these people who staff these organizations will continue to shine a bright light on which side of the argument is correct.
