Top of the Fold

  • Lee Zeldin attacked: Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin, the GOP candidate for governor in New York, was attacked Thursday evening at a campaign event. He was unharmed when a man took the stage, grabbed Zeldin’s arm, and, as a witness described, “wrestled with him a bit, and pulled a blade out” before being tackled and subdued by attendees. “Grateful for the attendees who stepped up quickly to assist and the law enforcement officers who quickly responded,” Zeldin said after the attack. “I’m as resolute as ever to do my part to make New York safe again.” Democrat New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who has presided over rising crime in the state, condemned the attack “in the strongest terms possible.” Maybe she should stop alerting her followers of Zeldin’s campaign events while warning that he’s a “dangerous” “far-right extremist.” And maybe violent criminals shouldn’t be immediately released back onto the street, as this attacker was hours later.

  • Child rapist is involved with child’s mom: Remember that 10-year-old girl who was raped by an illegal alien and ended up having an abortion? We’re now learning that her attacker is in a romantic relationship with the girl’s mother. It was certainly strange that the girl’s mother initially said her daughter is “fine” and that “everything they’re saying against him is a lie.” Now we know why. The man remains in Franklin County Jail in Columbus, Ohio, and he faces life in prison if convicted.

  • House Dems block resolution condemning abortion violence: “Since the May 2, 2022 leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, individuals professing anti-life views have targeted, destroyed, or vandalized numerous pro-life facilities, groups, and even churches to further their radical cause,” reads House Resolution 1233, introduced by Congressman Mike Johnson (R-LA). The purpose of the resolution is “Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches.” And Democrats just couldn’t do it, blocking the resolution from coming to the House floor. It’s not because social issues aren’t front and center but because Dems are busy pushing the Right to Contraception Act and the Respect for Marriage Act.
