Here come the whistleblowers, and it’s about damn time.

For years now, we’ve wondered where they were. Where were the patriotic Americans inside the FBI, the ones who saw how the bureau had been corrupted at the very top and had become little more than a Praetorian Guard of the privileged Left?

Consider the FBI’s kid-glove treatment of a woefully corrupt Hillary Clinton, and its undeniable complicity in an attempted deep-state coup against Donald Trump, and its suspiciously timed efforts to entrap a ridiculous bunch of plotters in Michigan, and its as-yet unexplained involvement in the riot of January 6, 2021, and its bizarre foot-dragging regarding the deeply incriminating contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop. Each of these cases betrays a clear left-leaning bias, and none of them can be easily explained away.

Now, finally, those on the inside are making themselves heard, and the sorry saga of Hunter Biden appears to have been the tipping point. As Fox News reports:

The top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is pressing the Department of Justice and the FBI for an explanation about why they pursued “politically charged investigations” related to the Trump campaign while suppressing key details related to the Hunter Biden probe as “disinformation,” in light of new whistleblower information.

In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Chris Wray sent on July 18 … Grassley raises concerns about a “pattern of active public partisanship” by employee Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault, and others.

Thibault, in fact, has reportedly been active on social media, and not in a manner becoming an FBI agent. He’s apparently been quite the poster of derogatory content regarding Donald Trump, including reposting tweets by the Trump-hating pedophile enablers at The Lincoln Project. According to Grassley, Thibault has since hidden his social media posts from public view.

Imagine that.

But this is about much more than social media. This is about political partisanship and its influence on decisions about whether to investigate or not. As the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy reports:

Agents investigating President Joe Biden’s son “opened an assessment which was used by an FBI headquarters team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease,” according to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA). Grassley revealed the claim after his office received “a significant number of protected communications from highly credible whistleblowers” about the investigation. The Republican claimed one of the communications shows “verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation.”

Translation: The FBI consistently and intentionally downplayed the seriousness of the accumulating evidence against the son of the Democrats’ candidate for president of the United States.

“One of the whistleblowers,” Dunleavy continues, “claimed the FBI assistant special agent in charge of the Washington field office, Timothy Thibault, shut down a line of inquiry into Hunter Biden in October 2020 despite some of the details being known to be true at the time.”

Imagine that. October 2020. Just days before the presidential election pitting Hunter Biden’s dad against Donald Trump. As we’ve said again and again, there’s more than one way to rig an election.

As Grassley writes in his four-page letter to Garland and Wray: “In fact, the information I have received reveals that Thibault’s political partisanship went much deeper than the inappropriate social media posts. Instead, it impacted his official decision-making on sensitive public corruption investigations. Equally concerning is that, based on Justice Department and FBI policies, Thibault’s partisanship likely affected investigations briefed to, and approved by, senior Justice Department and FBI officials.”

Grassley sums up his letter as follows:

Attorney General Garland and Director Wray, simply put, based on the allegations that I’ve received from numerous whistleblowers, you have systemic and existential problems within your agencies. You have an obligation to the country to take these allegations seriously, immediately investigate and take steps to institute fixes to these and other matters before you.

This is serious and deeply troubling stuff, and we’re grateful to the whistleblowers. But it’s not enough. Attorney General Garland has already shown himself to be a partisan shill for the Biden administration, a man willing to investigate concerned parents for their activities at local school board meetings but unwilling to investigate the crystal-clear allegations against the son of his friend, Joe Biden. As such, he’s unlikely to pursue these revelations properly. Nor is a Democrat-controlled Congress going to provide legitimate oversight.

And so, once again, we’ll ask: Where’s the special counsel?
