Joe Biden sure is enjoying quite the winning streak … or so the media has been churning over the last 10 days or so. But is President Double COVID Case really winning?

Perhaps a string of fawning media headlines started with Mike Allen, cofounder of Axios. Last week, Allen rattled off several “winning streak” items for Biden that he said reveal a “remarkable record.” He named the semiconductor subsidy bill Biden recently signed, increased vaccine capacity, infrastructure spending, more oil drilling (um, where?), and increased clean energy. He even labeled this a real “America First” agenda. The problem, as Allen sees it, is that “President Biden doesn’t seem to be getting a whole lot of credit for this,” primarily because “he hasn’t explained it as well as he could,” though bad breaks also have a lot to do with it.

Oh please.

Sometimes Republican Senator Lindsey Graham likewise recently applauded Biden for bipartisan victories on infrastructure and “the gun thing” — a.k.a. federal gun control.

“Gas prices are now down by more than 90 cents a gallon,” Biden boasted Saturday. “That’s over seven straight weeks of prices declining.” Heh. That’s after Biden doubled gas prices over his first 17 months. It was $2.39 a gallon the day he took office, and his policies drove it to $5.02. It’s $4.03 today, still $1.64 (about 75%) higher than his Keystone-killing first day.

Since Allen’s initial “winning streak” declaration, the U.S. military took out al-Qaida cofounder and leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, the July jobs report was impressive, and the Senate passed the next Biden Boondoggle — the so-called Inflation Reduction Act. Three cheers for Biden, right?

“For anyone that doubted whether Joe Biden’s policies or approach to governing works, this week is further proof about his ability to lead in the times of crisis,” bragged Democrat strategist Antjuan Seawright. “Poll numbers don’t reflect his ability to govern.”

Not so fast, Antjuan.

Those successes point to Biden’s biggest failures. The disastrous surrender of Afghanistan left it to the Taliban and al-Qaida. And the economy just entered an official recession, triggered by Biden’s other reckless spending causing runaway inflation. Many jobs were created by people taking additional ones or coming out of retirement to pay for Biden’s inflation tax. And the White House response to GDP numbers has largely been to redefine the word “recession.”

As for congressional expenditures on windmills and health insurance subsidies, simply declaring that spending $740 billion primarily on leftist climate and healthcare redistribution schemes while effectively raising taxes on everyone will reduce inflation is a big lie. That and it’s what Rich Lowry called “a shadow of the original sprawling proposal that constituted nearly the entire progressive wish list.”

Did we mention that Biden’s intentional border invasion has created a humanitarian crisis?

Is Biden really “winning”? We suppose that depends on your definition and goals. If the goal is reducing American standing in the world and creating more dependence on the federal government, then Biden’s record rivals any of his big-government Democrat predecessors. Yet not even Democrats want him to run for reelection. Depending on the Leftmedia poll, support for any ‘24 nominee but the man who’s already the nation’s oldest president runs anywhere from 64% to 75%.

But sure, Joe Biden is on a “winning streak,” and don’t you forget it.
