Re: “Republicans Make a ‘Commitment to America’

The problem I see with this is that Republicans do this quite often. They have the answers for the problems that were caused by both parties. Time and time again, the GOP over-promises and under-delivers. Can it assure us this time will be different? Right now, it sounds to me like typical pandering by politicians who are more interested in themselves. —North Carolina

There is nothing wrong with the “Commitment to America” except that none of it will become law within the next two years. However large the new Republican majority is, it will not be enough to overturn Biden’s vetos. What they could do in the next two years is defund the deep state. No more continuing resolutions! Examine what each department is spending money on and refuse to fund anything unconstitutional or detrimental. Since only the House can initiate funding, this would leave the Senate and Biden with the choice of approving the limited funding the House decides on or closing some agencies entirely. Of course, this would take courage, which is very limited among Republican House members. —Texas

The Republicans had the opportunity to rein in spending while Trump was president, and what did they do? They spent trillions of dollars we don’t have. What makes anyone think government is going to be significantly reduced if they take the gavel from Nattering Nancy? Chances are slim to none, and slim just left town. Having said that, I still prefer to have the Republicans in charge so that they can at least pretend to do the right things, whereas the Democrats will only increase the size and scope of the current disaster. —Maryland

Re: “The Demos’ Martha’s Vineyard Smokescreen

The ultimate question that the Left does not ask the Left is this: What is a sanctuary city/state if it won’t accept people seeking sanctuary? Maybe CNN or MSNBC should send the proper “journalists” to seek out the answer. It seems to me that it is easy to be a sanctuary as long as the actual seekers are hundreds or thousands of miles away. These are not bad people on MVI, they are just so wrapped up in themselves that they can’t reason. They are so busy posturing that they have no substance. They accept that Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico have a problem, but they want those states to come up with solutions that don’t involve New England. —Nevada

Re: “Leftist Man Kills Teen Over Politics

So we have “gun violence,” but not “vehicle violence”? The common theme, of course, is “violence.” So far, there is only one group committing violence — criminally minded individuals. Since conservatives fail to engage in true violence, they are vilified by association. “If you support the Second Amendment you are guilty of supporting murder.” Safety and freedom depend on balance of power for the individuals. One must defend against those using violence. Firearms are necessary when violence sweeps the land. —Oregon

Re: “Monday: Below the Fold

Words can no longer describe how fed up I am with Biden and Pelosi claiming to me “staunch” or “devout” Catholics when in reality they are atheists driven in their goals by Satan. Both are rabid lovers of killing unborn babies. —Texas
