The Patriot Post® · The Biden DOJ's Abortion Double Standard
A law enforcement agency’s number one job — and really only job — should be to simply and evenly enforce the laws of the land. Indeed, the primary measure of a system’s justice is whether or not the law is applied consistently to all, no matter the status, race, gender, or political views of those within society. Injustice becomes quickly apparent when these basic parameters of fairness have been compromised.
This principle of equality under the law is baked into our nation’s very founding. Unequal treatment under the law was the impetus that led our Founders to declare their independence from King George III in the first place. So, when instances of double standards rear their ugly heads, they should rightly be called out, derided for the injustice that they are, and corrected as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, injustice has been a repeated “feature” of Joe Biden’s Justice Department. One of the most salient examples has been how the DOJ has used the FBI to target people with political views that are contrary to those of the Democrat Party.
Recently, the DOJ targeted anti-abortion protesters, in one case sending an FBI SWAT team to arrest a pro-life activist over a shoving incident. Why it took a team of FBI agents to arrest Mark Houck, a family man with no criminal record, when he could have been simply cited and given a notice to show up in court by the local authorities has everything to do politics. For Biden’s politicized DOJ, Houck is on the “wrong” side of the abortion issue. Therefore, he will be made an example of to serve the purpose of political intimidation for those who would protest abortion.
To be clear, the incident involving Houck deserves to be investigated, as the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act prohibits obstructing the entrance to abortion facilities. But Houck was not the aggressor in that incident. And his case isn’t the only instance of Biden’s DOJ aggressively going after pro-life activists. The FBI recently raided the home of Chester Gallagher, as he and 10 others have been charged with having violated the FACE Act.
Meanwhile, abortion zealots have targeted several pro-life pregnancy centers across the country, vandalizing and causing substantial damage. Over the last six months, a group called Jane’s Revenge has claimed responsibility for 18 of these attacks, and yet Biden’s DOJ has effectively turned a blind eye, as the FBI has not made a single arrest in connection with these attacks. According to the FACE Act, these pro-life pregnancy centers should all fall under the same federal protection, and yet clearly they have not.
When was the last time you heard a peep about the people illegally protesting outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices? Or the guy who attempted to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh?
It is this kind of blatant double standard that only increases Americans’ distrust of the Justice Department. And when trust is lost, it is very difficult to regain. Restoration can only come about after the rot causing the corruption is removed.
