Analysis: Republican National Committee

REPUBLICAN-LED STATES ARE BRINGING BACK JOBS FASTER

  • Newly released data from the Labor Department confirms that Republican governors and legislatures are leading the way in getting America back to work.
    • This is the last state jobs data the Labor Department will release before the midterm elections.
  • Through September, nine of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
    • The top three states for jobs recovered are all Republican-led.
    • 16 of the 23 states that have more jobs than when the pandemic hit are Republican-led: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
  • Republican-led states on average have recovered more than 109 percent of their lost jobs compared to just over 95 percent for Democrat-run states.

    • Democrat-led states have an average unemployment rate more than half a percentage point higher – 3.7 percent.
  • 69 percent of the states with unemployment rates at or lower than when the pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and 74 percent have Republican-controlled legislatures.

BIDEN AND DEMOCRATS HAVE SLAMMED WORKING FAMILIES WITH 40-YEAR HIGH INFLATION

  • Thanks to Bidenflation, Americans are struggling to live paycheck-to-paycheck as prices surge to 40-year highs and wages fall for the 18th month in a row.
  • Prices on nearly everything are up, making it “harder [for families] to pay for basic necessities.”
    • Jeannie Jansen of Wyoming, New York, who received a foreclosure notice in early July: “I busted my butt for years to have what we have. I went without heat this winter. I’ve gone without everything. And it’s still not enough because prices are so high.”
    • Jamaica Bonvillian, a single mom from Louisiana: “I just get to the point where I break down and I’m like, ‘OK, how do I [afford groceries]?’”
    • Megan Naquin, a mother of six who now spends more on food than her mortgage: “Stuff hasn’t just gone up a little bit, it’s gone up tremendously.”
  • To make ends meet, families are dipping into savings and falling deeper into debt.
    • 48 percent of hourly workers do not have a “single cent” in emergency savings, marking a seven percent increase since last year.
    • An even higher percentage of workers – 80 percent – report having “less than $500” saved for emergencies, with workers citing “rising energy, food and housing costs” as the main factors impacting their finances.
  • With prices squeezing family budgets, 65 percent of Americans say the economy is getting worse, and 48 percent blame Democrat policies.
