Cross-Examination

  • Xi meets Biden: The Group of 20 summit kicked off in Indonesia today, with Joe Biden meeting Xi Jinping ahead of discussions. According to Biden, “We share a responsibility, in my view, to show that China and the United States can manage our differences, prevent competition from becoming anything ever near conflict, and to find ways to work together on urgent global issues that require our mutual cooperation.” Our differences? Like China unleashing the coronavirus pandemic upon the world and lying about it? Of course, our differences have extended much further back into history, and one of the biggest problems is China’s ability to use its favored nation status to bulk up on exports and fund the ChiComs’ expansionist vision under Xi. Biden is clearly not up to the task of standing up for U.S. interests. Indeed, he comes from the ideological cadre that would prefer to see the U.S., not the Chinese, knocked down a few pegs.

  • Border Patrol chief thrown under the bus: Christopher Magnus, the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, tendered his resignation to the White House over the weekend. Fox News reports it was “after being ordered to quit or be fired.” Magnus is the immediate fall guy for Joe Biden’s disastrous open borders. “Figures from the Department of Homeland Security show nearly 2.4 million migrants were detained at the border in the fiscal year that ended in September, which is an increase of 37% from last year,” Fox reports. That clearly didn’t hurt Democrats as badly as expected in the midterm elections, but Biden had to at least appear to do something.

  • Texas targets Philly for buses of migrants: Speaking of the border, a lot of attention was successfully brought to Team Biden’s disastrous handling of immigration by the governors of Texas and Florida, who sent bus loads of migrants to so-called “sanctuary” destinations. The predictable hypocrisy was appalling. Well, the Houston Astros recently beat the Philadelphia Phillies (Biden’s favorite team) in the World Series, but it seems Texas isn’t done with the City of Brotherly love, as Philadelphia officials expect a bus load of migrants to arrive from Del Rio later this week. More than 300 migrant-filled buses have left Texas in recent months. “As [President Joe] Biden does nothing,” said Governor Greg Abbott, “Texas will continue taking unprecedented action to relieve our overwhelmed border communities & secure the border.”
