Cross-Examination

  • GOP now leads House 217-206: Republicans are one seat away from a majority of 218 in the U.S. House after several races in California and New York were called yesterday. According to The Washington Times: “Fourteen House races, largely in California, are still uncalled as of late Monday night. Republicans lead in four uncalled races, while Democrats lead in 10.” Unfortunately, it could be weeks before some of those races are called, as some are so tight as to be in need of a recount, including conservative firebrand Lauren Boebert of Colorado. “They don’t give out gavels in small, medium, and large,” said Kevin McCarthy, who is angling to secure the speaker’s gavel. “We have the majority, and we have the gavel.” That is indeed the almost certain result, but the GOP majority will be only a small handful of seats and there are rumblings of discontentment with McCarthy’s leadership.

  • Biden suckers gullible women: After the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision on abortion, Democrats successfully fearmongered about the Republicans’ horrific plans to save babies’ lives so as to turn out women (especially unmarried ones) and young people to vote Democrat and blunt the red wave. Joe Biden motivated them by promising that “the first bill” he’d send a new Democrat Congress would be one to “codify Roe v. Wade.” Welp, so much for that. “I don’t think there’s enough votes to codify unless something happens unusual in the House,” Biden admitted yesterday. That is, in part, merely a keen sense of the obvious; a GOP House is not going to pass that bill. But who had control of both chambers of Congress for the past two years and did nothing? What this ensures is that Democrats will continue to use abortion as a wedge-issue motivator in future elections.

  • Mother arrested for getting 10-year-old boy a tattoo: When a New York boy showed up to school with a tattoo on his forearm asking for Vaseline from the school nurse, the nurse helped him and then called police, who arrested the boy’s mother. Why? State law forbids tattoos for minors with or without parental consent. Dr. Cora Bruener, a pediatrician and professor at the University of Washington Medical Center’s Seattle Children’s Hospital, opined, “I don’t think kids under 18 have that kind of agency to make a decision.” Indeed, what kind of mother would allow her child to make a permanent body-altering decision before that child is really able to fully understand that choice? We’re asking on behalf of all those supposedly “transgender” kids who are headed for a lifetime of regret thanks to the abuse of their parents and the body-altering done by money-grubbing physicians.
