Sam Brinton, Joe Biden’s “gender fluid” Department of Energy appointee, was officially fired as of December 12. Brinton is the subject of two arrest warrants and is credibly accused of stealing women’s luggage at two separate airports. If convicted, he could face five years of prison time for one incident and 10 years for the other.

Initially, Brinton’s appointment to the DOE flew under the radar. He was an MIT graduate, after all, and was put in charge of disposing our nuclear waste. However, his LGBTQ+ activism and disturbing persona came crashing to the forefront a few weeks later. Brinton is an open sexual fetishist whose particular perversions borderline on bestiality.

According to new additions in the civil rights laws, his sexual proclivities don’t preclude him from getting a job if he’s fit and qualified. It was immediately made clear, however, that Brinton was much more interested in flaunting his public persona than doing his job well.

Grove City College professor Carl R. Trueman wrote of this hire: “It is, of course, not his perversions that are problematic with regard to his basic competence as a public official. It is the fact that he is an exhibitionist who uses his twisted sexuality to bully others in the workplace with the specific intention of ‘educating’ the public.”

Less than eight month after his appointment, Brinton was accused of theft and an arrest warrant issued after video evidence emerged of him taking a Vera Bradley suitcase from the luggage carousel at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport. It can be clearly seen in the video that after Brinton took the luggage, he removed the tag that would identify the owner. Vera Bradley is unapologetically brightly colored, patterned, and often paisley — an unmistakable piece of woman-designed luggage. Brinton, when confronted with his theft, denied it. Then he claimed that he would be happy to return the luggage, but the clothes inside were all his. Finally, he confessed that he did take the wrong luggage, but it was only because he was exhausted.

The first allegation of theft had Brinton put on suspension from the DOE. According to The Washington Free Beacon, he used that time off to give a talk at a Los Angeles kink conference.

With his name and face splashed across the front pages of all the major news outlets, police at another airport came forward with another accusation of theft for the DOE diversity hire. Security at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas had video tape of a man — later identified as Sam Brinton — wearing a white T-shirt with an LGBTQ+ flag on the front with an atomic symbol superimposed on top. Investigators wrote in their report: “Brinton pulled the victim’s luggage from the carousel and examined the tag. Then placing it back on the carousel, looking in all directions for anyone who might be watching, or might approach. Pulling it back off the carousel and demonstrating the same behavior by looking around before walking away with it quickly. Brinton only having checked one piece of luggage, which Brinton had already claimed from the carousel, had no reason to be examining and taking any other pieces of luggage.”

After this latest allegation, many called for his firing. Others touted the fact they had tried to warn concerned parties that his appointment to leadership in the DOE was a bad call. Therapist Dr. Joseph Nicolosi Jr., founder of the Reintegrative Therapy Association, said: “My colleagues and I warned lawmakers in California and Massachusetts, and the LGBT activist groups which were sponsoring him, about Sam Brinton’s ever-changing story about abuse he allegedly underwent in therapy because of his LGBT attractions. But nobody cared, so Brinton’s testimony about his alleged experience played a key role in banning legitimate practices across the nation.”

In other words, besides Brinton’s outrageous behavior, his tendency for embellishing the truth to suit his own ends was already an established pattern.

Brinton’s fall from grace and political power is yet another example of why identity politics is a worthless tool for determining someone’s ability to do a job well. In fact, deep confusion like Brinton’s probably indicates the opposite. This is par for the course, though, with Biden’s other identity picks (Vice President Kamala Harris, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and monkeypox czar Dr. Demetre Daskalaki, to name a few).

Christian writer Dr. Michael Brown correctly reminds us all to pray for this man. Brinton is clearly in the depths of depravity and in need to God’s rescuing. At the same time, we cannot be sorry that such a high-risk individual is removed from a position of political power.
