The Patriot Post® · Biden's Docs: Where's the Special Counsel?
Now they tell us: They’ve found classified documents at Joe Biden’s DC think tank. Trouble is, they’ve known about the existence of these docs since November 2.
Second of November, eh? That’s odd. These are classified materials, right? And they were discovered at the Penn Biden Center, Joe Biden’s very own namesake foreign-policy research center right there in Washington, right? And they date to his time as Barack Obama’s vice president, right?
So why are we hearing about it only now, more than two months after the fact? What might the significance of that date be, the second of November? Wasn’t there some sort of election coming up — yes, yes, some sort of national election, some sort of crucial congressional midterm election taking place just a few days later? The second Tuesday in November, or some such?
Then there was a little dust-up a few months back. We vaguely remember it: Some sort of early morning FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. And what was the pretext for that unprecedented raid of a former president’s home — a former president who’d given every intention that he’d be running again in 2024 to unseat the current president? Ah, yes, a search for classified documents.
Seems like the Biden Justice Department did a fine job of conducting that raid and maximizing the damage to former President Trump two months ahead of the midterms, but a suspiciously poor job of disclosing in a timely manner its own mishandling of classified materials.
Seems like the people — seems like the voters — had a right to know.
So why the delay?
And where’s the outrage?
“Is the White House going to be raided tonight?” asked Kentucky Congressman and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer. “Are they going to raid the Biden center? This is further concern that there’s a two-tier justice system within the DOJ with how they treat Republicans vs. Democrats … certainly how they treat the former president versus the current president.”
But why stop there, Congressman? Where’s the FBI raid of Joe Biden’s Wilmington mansion? Or his Rehoboth Beach mansion?
Or are FBI raids reserved only for Republicans? “A raid is supposed to be a last resort,” said constitutional law expert Alan Dershowitz, a Democrat. “But this administration has used the weaponization of the justice system against its political enemies. It’s arrested people, denied them bail, put them in handcuffs — used all kinds of techniques that are not usually applied to American citizens.”
In September, during an appearance on “60 Minutes,” Scott Pelley asked Biden for his reaction to a photo showing the classified documents recovered at Mar-a-Lago. “How that could possibly happen. How anyone could be that irresponsible,” he mused. “And it just — totally irresponsible.”
Well, what say you now, Mr. President?
More important, where’s the special counsel? Surely this discovery requires a special counsel, given that the Biden Justice Department’s investigation of Trump’s classified documents warranted a special counsel. And especially so given that the DOJ is run by Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Garland reports directly to Biden. Perhaps the Biden administration could hammer out a two-for-one deal: a special counsel for Classified Docs Joe, and another one for Influence Peddling Hunter?
After all, we can’t have Joe Biden investigating himself and his son, can we?
Apparently, we can. Almost as soon as the story broke, AG Garland appointed U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch to review the matter, according to CBS News, which first reported on the documents’ discovery on Monday.
As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said at the time of the Mar-a-Lago outrage: “The raid is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves. … Banana Republic.”
We used to roll our eyes at such talk of the U.S. being a banana republic, but no more. This is precisely the way a regime behaves when it’s co-opted the law enforcement and intelligence apparatuses of the federal government.
Chairman Comer said after the Mar-a-Lago raid that according to the research his office had conducted, “Every president had accidentally packed documents that may or may not be considered classified.”
“But they weren’t raided,” he added.
No, they weren’t. Except for the one named Donald Trump.
Which just goes to show: If it weren’t for double standards, the Democrats wouldn’t have any at all.
