“No punishment, in my opinion, is too great for the Man, who can build his greatness upon his Country’s ruin.” —George Washington (1778)
For the Record
“I’m going to be honest, I felt more racism when I first moved [to Los Angeles] than I ever, ever had in Alabama.” —black actress Octavia Spencer
Observations
“The [World Economic Forum] want total power to address ‘crises.’ We must remember that throughout history, the worst crises faced by humanity — wars, famines, plagues, starvation, slavery, death on a widespread scale — were either caused by those in power or exacerbated by them. Those horrific results need not be motivated by malevolence; mere error can do as much damage. Tens of millions of Chinese people died in the famine that was caused by the policies in Chairman Mao’s ‘Great Leap Forward.’ Once the central planners are in complete control, you’re just as dead if they’re accidentally wrong as you would be if they intended it.” —Laura Hollis
“To normal people, Davos is nothing more than a yearly reminder to get on your knees and thank the sweet baby Jesus that Al Gore and John Kerry never became President.” —Jimmy Failla
Political Futures
“By going along with the overheated Trump document scandal, Biden got himself a political issue that no doubt helped in the midterm elections. He’s now paying the price. Biden should certainly not have had classified materials in his garage or at his think tank. Waiting to disclose that fact until after the midterm elections and even after the important follow-on Georgia Senate election was possibly the biggest abuse of all. Like Trump, though, Biden’s actual possession of the documents is more of an administrative slap on the wrist violation and less of a national scandal. Hillary Clinton’s violation, involving classified materials placed on unclassified computers tied to the public internet, was much more egregious than anything Trump or Biden have been accused of, and even then, there was no criminal sanction. Yet Biden played along with the unfair treatment of Trump. After pretending the Trump scandal was more than it was, Biden and his allies are now hamstrung coming out and explaining this reality. ‘What goes around comes around’ will be fun for Biden’s opponents, but none of this is good for America, and it’s certainly not good for the office of the president.” —Neil Patel
“It’s probably a good rule of thumb not to run a presidential candidate who’s under federal investigation for mishandling classified documents. But does that rule hold when your candidate could well be running against another candidate also under federal investigation for mishandling classified documents? Such are the imponderables that a potential Biden-Trump rematch presents. Both can point at the other and try to argue, in effect, ‘Hey, your special counsel investigation is much worse than my special counsel investigation.’” —Rich Lowry

The BIG Lies
“When we make mistakes, we acknowledge them in public and we correct them.” —New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger (Except when you don’t — like the whole Russia collusion lie, the suppression of Hunter Biden’s laptop, the plethora of 1619 Project lies, and all the other uncorrected or muted news stories.)
“California is the true freedom state. … Freedom is who we are.” —California Governor Gavin Newsom
“I’m outraged that the [State Department] is moving forward with plans to build the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem on land stolen from Palestinians. By doing so, the U.S. is complicit in the illegal confiscation of Palestinian property. [Joe Biden] should reverse this Trump era policy immediately.” —Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib
Demagogue
“Today should’ve been the 50th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Instead, MAGA Republican officials are waging a war on women’s right to make their own health care decisions. But this fight isn’t over.” —Joe Biden
And Last…
“Every day in this country, innocent lives are at stake. The only difference is they don’t belong to a famous athlete, and they’re not seen on national TV.” —former NFL coach Tony Dungy at the March for Life
