The Patriot Post® · California's Crappy Cornucopia of Pro-Predator Legislation
Abigail Shrier does it again. The intrepid investigative reporter has been hot on the trail of State Senator Scott Weiner’s new legislation that passed recently in California. Senate Bill 357 was signed into law in July, and the measure decriminalizes loitering with the intent to engage in prostitution.
For all intents and purposes, there has been an exponential surge in sexual soliciting on the streets of California. This is great news for the men who profit off of this sort of work, not so much for the exploited women and girls in that life.
Shrier, in her usual turn of phrase, stated, “In our postfeminist era, prostitution is so often idealized — ‘sex work is work’ — that it’s easy to overlook the gruesome reality of what it means to have a pimp, an arrangement closer to slavery than to any legitimate job.” Often times these women and girls are victims of human sex trafficking.
Why did Weiner propose such a bill? For the same reason he has given for other legislation he has pushed: It ostensibly forwards the rights of LGBTQ+ people. According to him, the loitering law was a form of racial and sexual-orientation profiling that hurt black “trans” women (black men) in particular. This seems to be blatantly false. The anti-trafficking advocates that Shrier interviewed disputed this claim. Regardless of race, it is biological women and girls — 94% — who are the main victims of sexual trafficking or are sex workers. In other words, the “rights” of LGBTQ+ people have trumped the rights of biological women and girls and essentially trapped them with their pimps.
This is not the first time Senator Weiner has been front and center on a bill that purports to advance the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals at the expense of women and children. It was he who wrote the bill allowing men who self-identify as women to be placed in women’s prisons — which, as Shrier has written about before, has resulted in horrible abuse and rape of these vulnerable women.
Weiner has also authored Senate Bill 107, which should be called the anti-parent bill. It has made California a “sanctuary state” for minors who believe they are the opposite sex. It not only prevents parents from stopping these permanently damaging medical procedures, but it also prohibits law enforcement in other states from intervening. The bill literally says it will “prohibit law enforcement agencies from making, or intentionally participating in, the arrest of an individual pursuant to an out-of-state arrest warrant based on another state’s law against receiving or allowing a child to receive gender-affirming health care.”
A bill that Weiner is currently trying to ram through is a measure to decriminalize date-rape drugs such as ketamine. What purpose would that serve to the LGBTQ+ community, let alone the state at large? Who knows. Seems like banning that garbage would be a no-brainer, and to its credit, the California legislature did vote it down. Weiner is trying again, though, with scant revisions.
Under the auspices of promoting LGBTQ+ rights, he is systematically making California a paradise for the sexually depraved and perpetuating the suffering of the most vulnerable in society.
Governor Gavin Newsom is signing Weiner’s bills into law. It is worth pointing out that under the rule of Newsom, California has had rising crime, rising homelessness, and ever-mounting debt.
This is the man whom Democrats have been floating as a possible 2024 presidential candidate.
No thanks. Don’t California my America.
