There’s a picture of John Fetterman and his wife, Gisele, which she posted to her Twitter account on November 15. It’s a telling image.

The occasion is the senator-elect’s first trip to DC after having won election, and the caption is a simple “First day” followed by three blue hearts. It’s telling because she’s the focus. She looks youthful and stylish standing there in front of her husband’s Senate office in her leather jacket, short skirt, and stockings, while her husband, the stroke-addled senator-elect who had no business running for office in the first place, looks aloof and out of it. Oh, and he’s partially cropped out of the picture.

Gisele’s unspoken message is simple: This is about me, not the debilitated galoot next to me.

John Fetterman, the guy whose condition was downplayed by the mainstream media until after he’d beaten Republican Mehmet Oz for Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat and given Joe Biden a crucial 51-49 majority in the upper chamber, lasted five weeks on the job before spending two days in the hospital last week after feeling lightheaded during a daylong Democrat retreat. As The New York Times reports:

Mr. Fetterman suffers from auditory processing issues, forcing him to rely primarily on a tablet to transcribe what is being said to him. The hearing issues are inconsistent; they often get worse when he is in a stressful or unfamiliar situation. When it’s bad, Mr. Fetterman has described it as trying to make out the muffled voice of the teacher in the “Peanuts” cartoon, whose words could never be deciphered.

You remember the teacher: Wah wah wuh-wuh wah wah wah.

Gisele is now her husband’s de facto spokesman, even more so than “Doctor” Jill Biden is our cognitively disabled president’s spokesperson.

Strange, but we don’t remember either of them ever having run for office, ever having answered so much as a single debate question. But we certainly remember Fetterman’s lone debate — which his handlers did their best to dodge before finally relenting just two weeks before the election and after more than half a million Pennsylvanians had already cast their ballots. Indeed, we remember Fetterman answering debate questions like this one about his fracking flip-flop:

“What you’re supposed to do to recover from this is do as little as possible,” said Fetterman’s chief of staff, Adam Jentleson. Instead, though, as Jentleson tellingly concedes, Fetterman “was forced to do as much as possible — he had to get back to the campaign trail.”

No, he didn’t have to get back on the campaign trail. He’d suffered a near-fatal stroke last May, at a time when he was comfortably ahead of Oz in all the polling. Anyone looking out for the man’s well-being would’ve pulled the plug on his campaign. Isn’t that what a spouse is for?

We hope Gisele Fetterman and Jill Biden are happy. We hope all this has been worth their 15 minutes of fame. They could’ve spared their unfit husbands and put a stop to all this long ago. Fat chance of that, though, for we know that the Democrats will do anything — ANYTHING — in the service of political power.

What other explanation can there be for having dragged their obviously ailing husbands across the finish line and having foisted them upon the American people?

Just before the November midterms, Teri Christoph at Smart Girls Politics described Jill Biden and Gisele Fetterman as “enableists.” And that’s exactly what they are. And they shouldn’t get a pass because political spouses are somehow off limits.

They knew exactly what they were doing all along.
