Lost amid the gut-wrenching awfulness of last month’s hate crime at a Nashville Christian school, and amid the decisive response of two heroic local law enforcement professionals to eliminate the threat, there’s a cover-up that the mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about.

It’s a cover-up concerning the motivations of the killer.

In the wake of most mass shootings, the media typically clamors for and receives the murderer’s manifesto, and then delves into it deeply and distributes it widely. We learned, for example, about Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof’s avowed white supremacy. And about the anti-Semitic writings of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooter in Pittsburgh. And we saw the pre-massacre video made by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter in Parkland, Florida. And the hate-fueled anti-immigrant screed from the Walmart shooter in El Paso. And the racist “Replacement Theory” rant of the Buffalo supermarket shooter.

All these vile communications were made readily available to us. And yet, more than three weeks after the murderous attack on a Nashville Christian school by a gender dysphoric assailant — an attack that killed three nine-year-old schoolchildren and three staff members — we’ve yet to learn what drove this killer.

Ask yourself: Why is that?

We know this murderer’s writings exist. Nashville Police Chief John Drake told us as much when he announced on the day of the massacre, “We have a manifesto, we have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this date, the actual incident,” including “a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place.” Chief Drake also indicated that this manifesto would be released to the public.

We’re still waiting. Still waiting on the FBI to release the manifesto so we can learn what, exactly, drove this deranged assailant to mass murder.

As our Nate Jackson wrote at the time, the media’s coverage of the Nashville hate crime was disgraceful. If the media wasn’t tripping over themselves to “clarify” reports about the killer’s preferred pronouns, they were running vile headlines like MSNBC’s “6 are dead in Nashville. Let’s revisit how much the Tennessee GOP loves guns.”

Perhaps this should’ve tipped us off. The media are uneasy about this particular assailant’s gender-confused identity because they know it will do damage to the Left’s prevailing narrative about angry, young, white, male shooters.

This is an inconvenient shooter for the Left, and Joe Biden’s handlers will resist any effort by the Department of Justice to classify this assault as a hate crime. That’s because doing so would result in immediate blowback from the gender cultists.

But denying that this was a hate crime doesn’t make it so. Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley, for one, was unequivocal: “What police have told us in Nashville is that this was targeted at this Christian school, the Christian students, the Christian employees and that they believe it was definitely premeditated and there was a deliberate attempt to target the school. We need to be clear that when you target people of faith, that is a hate crime.”

Indeed, that’s the very definition of a hate crime, much as those on the Left might not want it to be so.

As for that manifesto, independent journalist Glenn Greenwald has gone to great lengths to see that it’s made public. On Tuesday, he said, “We’ve spoken with 2 major law firms in Nashville who said they’d send retainer letters to represent us suing FBI and the Nashville PD to obtain the manifesto of the Nashville shooter, only to back out at the last second.”

Greenwald’s closing comment: “The political pressures are intense. We should see it.”

He’s right. We should see it so we can know what exactly drove this killer. And if we don’t see it, we should be free to draw some damning conclusions not only about the Biden administration’s protection racket but about the hate-filled cult of transgenderism.
