If you’re as sick of Merrick Garland’s slow-walk of the Hunter Biden tax-evasion case as we are, this will be welcome news: There’s a whistleblower. Within the IRS. Who says Joe’s son is getting the kid-glove treatment.

And he has the receipts. Just the News’s John Solomon has the specifics:

A decorated supervisory IRS agent has reported to the Justice Department’s top watchdog that federal prosecutors appointed by Joe Biden have engaged in “preferential treatment and politics” to block criminal tax charges against presidential son Hunter Biden, providing evidence as a whistleblower that conflicts with Attorney General Merrick Garland’s recent testimony to Congress that the decision to bring charges against Biden was being left to the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware.

Imagine that. Either this decorated IRS agent is lying to us now, or Joe Biden’s wingman was lying to Congress then. Solomon continues: “According to a letter from the whistleblower’s attorney Mark Lytle to Congress obtained by Just the News, the IRS agent revealed he is seeking to provide detailed disclosures about a high-profile, sensitive case to the tax-writing committees in Congress, which have special authority under federal tax privacy laws to receive such information.”

Interestingly, the whistleblower’s allegations don’t mention the president’s wastrel son by name, but Solomon’s gumshoe journalism confirms that we are indeed talking about “the smartest guy” Joe Biden knows.

Even more interesting, though, is that this story has finally broken containment; it’s no longer the exclusive purview of the conservative news media. Which might mean that the Biden bootlickers within the mainstream media are beginning to realize that they’ll need to step up and do their part if the Democrats are to usher this increasingly addled president off the stage and clear the way for someone who can string semi-articulate sentences together.

Recall that it was nearly a year ago when we began to hear rumblings that the Hunter Biden investigation had reached “a critical stage.”

The investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes, led by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, first began in 2018 and is also connected to the allegedly false statements Hunter made when purchasing a firearm. (He must’ve forgotten that he was addicted to drugs at the time of the purchase.)

That’s right. The investigation has been going on for five freaking years.

How long does it take, after all, to put together a solid case when you have a laptop computer chock-full of incriminating evidence and a rock-solid eyewitness who can corroborate the incriminating communications and the meetings that implicate then-Vice President Joe Biden?

Since then, though, we’ve heard next to nothing about the investigation. Until now.

“My client wants to come forward to Congress,” said the whistleblower’s attorney, Mark Lytle, to CBS News chief investigative correspondent Jim Axelrod in an exclusive interview that aired last night and streamed across all CBS platforms. “He’s ready to be questioned about what he knows and what he experienced under the proper legal protections.”

In a letter to the chairs and ranking members of the appropriate investigative committees of the House and Senate, Lytle formally requested whistleblower protections for his client. The letter claims that his client has evidence showing “preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected.”

We can imagine at least one congressional committee that would love to hear what this whistleblower has to say.

“It’s deeply concerning that the Biden Administration may be obstructing justice by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for tax violations,” said Kentucky’s James Comer, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and has for months been piecing together the puzzle of the Biden Crime Family’s international influence-peddling operation. “We’ve been wondering all along where the heck the DOJ and IRS have been. Now it appears the Biden administration may have been working overtime to prevent the Bidens from facing any consequences.”

House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith echoed Comer’s sentiment: “The Committee takes seriously any allegations of misconduct by government officials or offices and will, on behalf of American taxpayers, look into concerns that are brought to our attention. It is our responsibility to ensure the tax code is applied fairly and appropriately to all Americans — whether through the oversight efforts this Committee initiates or the need for oversight that is brought to our attention.”

Indeed, two-tiered justice is incompatible with a free state, incompatible with representative democracy. And so, as Joe Biden continues to slog through the second half of his one-and-done term as president, the real question is whether he’ll be held to account before his corrupt attorney general is able to run out the clock.

If that happens, Rule of Law will officially be dead and gone and in need of a proper burial.

UPDATE: This afternoon, in an utterly predictable development, White House paid liar spokesman Ian Sams denied the IRS whistleblower’s allegations, saying the investigation is “free from any political interference.”

Right, and Joe Biden still says he’s never spoken to his son about his overseas business dealings. Ever. Not even once.

With a straight face, Sams added: “Since he took office and consistent with his campaign promise that he would restore the independence of the Justice Department when it comes to decision-making in criminal investigations, President Biden has made clear that this matter would be handled independently by the Justice Department, under the leadership of a U.S. Attorney appointed by former President Trump, free from any political interference by the White House.”
