Nearly two weeks ago, Joe Biden released a three-minute video announcing his reelection bid. Joe said he was fighting for “freedom.” Freedom from what? In reality, Biden wants freedom from anyone challenging the continual abuse of our constitutional liberties. If you disagree with Biden and the far-left progressive wing of the Democrat Party, you are an insurrectionist!

It seems like just yesterday President Unity was talking about bringing us all together. Biden wanted to lower the temperature in politics and stop the yelling back and forth between political parties. Okay, in reality, it doesn’t seem like yesterday. It feels like nearly 28 long months of his administration’s abuse of the Constitution.

Patriot Post writers have pointed out time and again that we have a Republican form of government — “if we can keep it,” in the insightful words of Benjamin Franklin. Democracy has become mob rule. We have descended into the depths of insanity, changing the meaning of words that had been in use for centuries.

“Mostly peaceful protests” happened around the country with buildings burning to the ground behind the apparently “blind” reporters. Looting stores, burning businesses, and beating anyone who got in the mob’s way were deemed peaceful. However, citizens who showed up at the Capitol on January 6 were “insurrectionists.” Yes, those people who assaulted police officers need to be punished. But those who were escorted into the building and, at most, were guilty of trespassing are languishing in jail, their civil rights violated. They’re being held for extended periods of time as “national security” threats.

President Unity holds rallies like the speech last September outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia. In a scene resembling Dante’s “Inferno,” Biden railed on Republicans as the threat to democracy, with blood-red lighting and Marine security behind him like props on a stage.

Biden and his fellow Democrats have all taken up the chant that “MAGA Republicans” — or, even more unifying, “Extreme MAGA Republicans” — are a threat to national security. I’m not sure how the “climate change” activists feel about being bumped off the greatest-threat-to-national-security bandwagon?

Rather than bringing us together, being the president to all Americans, and lowering the temperature of political discussions, Biden is vilifying half the nation. Is it working? Not sure, as his current approval rate hovers at 37%. If freedom is in trouble, it’s not coming from conservatives. Republicans are not the ones telling us what cars we can drive or what kind of stove we can cook on. We will be paying off student loans and subsidizing home loans for those who don’t qualify. I could go on, as the list of our freedoms narrows each day.

There’s an answer for those of us who are getting angry at what’s taking place. We need to become “spiritual thermostats” to those around us. Especially to those who are ranting at everything. Those who are being provoked to retaliate are simply thermometers. A thermometer reflects the temperature around it. A thermostat sets the temperature.

Don’t allow yourself to be sucked into the Left’s rantings. Be the one who doesn’t react to those who have been indoctrinated to “feel,” not “think.” Remember, our political problems are heart problems. Pray and ask God for wisdom on how to be a peacemaker.
