There was a time in our country when we actually had men who were known as “men of honor.” They were known for their dignity, character, and integrity. They were respected by others. Their word was their bond. A handshake was as good as a contract. They did what they said they would do.

They were like the Roman Centurions of biblical times. In the movie “Gladiator,” General Maximus, played by actor Russell Crowe, approached his officers as they prepared for an epic battle. He saluted his officers and said, “Strength and honor,” to which they replied, “Strength and honor.” Roman Centurions were combat-hardened veterans, but their “honor” was their own.

In today’s culture, we do not value these qualities anymore. Many politicians will lie to our faces. Business, political, government, ministry, and even military leaders (Gen. Mark Milley, are you listening?) are more concerned with winning at any cost.

After the recent dustup over gay pride clothing for children during Pride Month, the Target CEO doubled down and said it was good for business and good for America. He must have been on vacation during the Bud Light disaster. Our leaders are determined to cram their ideology down our throats regardless of our values. Where’s integrity, character, and some sense of honor?

We, the people of God, need to take some of the blame for this dramatic decline in morality and spiritual values. Some “churches” did not want to take a stand for biblical values and the authority of Scripture, so they retreated from the spiritual battlefield, abandoning generations of our children to progressive indoctrination. We are paying for that decision. However, there are a number of churches that still stand for biblical values and they are making their voices heard.

The events taking place in our country can leave our heads spinning. Politicized government agencies like the FBI, CIA, DOJ, DOD, and others have become the weapons of one political party to silence their opponents. Our two-tiered justice system makes a mockery of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

To believe we are in an impossible situation and think nothing will change is to forget who we are. We are children of the Most High God! Our Father tells us that we are more than conquerors through Christ; that with God, nothing is impossible. Quitting isn’t in our nature. Think what kind of country we would be if our forefathers just surrendered to the British in 1775.

In “Gladiator,” Maximus told his calvary before they went into battle; “What we do in life echoes through eternity.” These were powerful words, and they are true for the children of God.

Stop letting a secular education system destroy every value we have instilled in our children. Let’s stop being friends with our kids and become their parents. Let’s stop complaining about government corruption and work toward electing people who have character, integrity, and value.

Let’s stop just “attending” church and enlist as spiritual warriors for the duration of the battle. Pastors need Aarons and Hurs to hold up their arms until the battle is won. Every man a warrior; every man a man of honor!

Something to pray about!
