Cross-Examination

  • Hillary blames MAGA for climate: Evidently, those MAGA “deplorables” continue to live rent free in Hillary Clinton’s mind, as she attributes every “evil” within not only the U.S. but apparently the entire world to roughly half of the American population. Case in point is Hillary’s social media post blaming “MAGA Republicans” for causing climate change. Her post includes a link to the leftist climate alarmist outfit CAP Action, which falsely claims that this is the hottest summer on record because of climate change. So, was this Hillary responding to The New York Times, which published a column just over a week ago calling on leaders to “politicize the weather”? Or was this just Hillary feeding her usual narcissistic cravings? Maybe the answer is both, but either way it’s time for Hillary to stuff a sock in it.

  • The great solar panel scam? A recent report from Environmental Progress found that the carbon footprint of solar panels is three times bigger than previously thought and even “would not compare favorably with natural gas.” This surprising finding has everything to do with the manufacture of solar panels in China, where the vast majority of them are made. The report notes that due to China being rather opaque regarding environmental data surrounding its solar panel industry, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and International Energy Agency (IEA) have been producing carbon emissions numbers based upon bad data. So the huge jump in solar power in the name of curbing carbon emissions hasn’t exactly had the desired or advertised effect.

  • UPS and Teamsters reach tentative agreement: A pending massive strike has been averted, as the UPS and Teamsters have agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement. With the August 1 deadline looming, 340,000 UPS workers walking off the job would have produced a significant negative economic impact for the country. According to UPS CEO Carol Tomé, “This agreement continues to reward UPS’s full- and part-time employees with industry-leading pay and benefits while retaining the flexibility we need to stay competitive, serve our customers and keep our business strong.” Both part-time and full-time UPS workers will receive a boost in pay, rising to an average top rate of $21 per hour and $49 per hour respectively. Expect package shipping prices to now rise as well.

  • Good news: Lowe’s rehires fired employee: Last month, Donna Hansbrough, a 68-year-old Lowe’s employee at a Georgia store, received a black eye during her attempt to stop shoplifters from stealing over $2,000 worth of merchandise. To make matters worse, she was fired over the incident for breaking company policy that forbids employees from interfering with shoplifters over safety concerns. While Hansbrough acknowledged that she did break company policy, she “didn’t expect to get terminated,” thinking instead “maybe a reprimand or a suspension.” But she explained: “I just got tired of seeing things get out the door. I just, I lost it. I basically lost all the training. Everything they tell you to do, I just … I just lost it.” After news of the story broke, Lowe’s senior management thought better of it and restored Hansbrough’s job, which she had held for the last 13 years.

  • Is the DOJ illegally funding red-flag laws in red states? Congressional Republicans are accusing the Biden administration of illegally using taxpayer dollars to promote anti-Second Amendment legislation in pro-gun states. Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Representative Alex Mooney (R-WV) recently sent a letter signed by 34 other Republican lawmakers to Attorney Merrick Garland, noting, “The Department of Justice appears to have weaponized the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to illegally fund ineligible ‘red flag’ laws and bribe pro-gun states into passing gun confiscation laws.” The Republicans further observe, “It appears that this Bipartisan Safer Communities Act grant program is being used by the federal government to influence states into enacting ‘red flag’ gun confiscation laws.”

  • Bergdahl conviction tossed: On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton threw out disgraced Army Sgt. Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl’s court-martial conviction. The reason for Walton’s decision was over Judge Jeffery Nance’s failure to disclose that he had applied for a position as an immigration judge prior to the trial, which Walton viewed as a situation that created a potential conflict of interest. That said, this ruling does not change the facts of the case surrounding Bergdahl, who pleaded guilty in 2017 to desertion to avoid a prison sentence.
