The Patriot Post® · Kirk vs. the 'Woke' Church
Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA is doing incredible work presenting the conservative message to young Americans on college campuses, which is a huge “mission field.”
While Kirk is recognized as a strong populist conservative, many people may not realize that he is also a committed Christian. He boldly brings the Gospel message to university campuses where he finds a lot of young Americans are often hearing it for the first time and are open to learning more.
Kirk recently talked with Breitbart News and addressed one of my greatest frustrations — the lukewarm Church and pastors who avoid the culture war because they are afraid of being “controversial” or “divisive.” Here are some excerpts of Kirk’s remarks.
“We as Christians are not called to be tolerant — and people don’t like it when I say that. But we shouldn’t be tolerant of sin. We shouldn’t be tolerant of rebellion from God. We should have compassion. We have kindness, sympathy, and love. But love without truth is not love.”
“And so, the Christian church has bad theology. They don’t want to offend people. The Gospel is offensive, and because of that, we see a lot of churches that are then taken over by these parasitic left-wing idea pathogens…
"The American church is the great bulwark against tyranny. Liberty is not man’s idea. It is God’s idea… I think without a strong church, the country completely and totally falls apart…
"The Book of Deuteronomy is an unbelievably political book, where the Founding Fathers quoted Deuteronomy more than any other author, secular or religious… They quoted Deuteronomy because out of Deuteronomy comes the civil law, this idea of separation of powers, an independent judiciary.
"So, if a pastor says [he doesn’t want to talk about politics], they’re not very smart, or they are deciding to be a coward, and I hope they change their ways.”
AMEN!
