The Patriot Post® · Steube Files Articles of Impeachment Against Biden
Earlier this year, when Greg Steube was in the ICU, he was no doubt thinking more about his brush with death than his country’s corrupt president. Getting knocked off a ladder and [falling]((https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3827837-steube-says-he-fractured-pelvis-punctured-lung-in-fall/) 25 feet will tend to focus a guy’s thoughts.
Not that we know firsthand, but we’ve been up there, trimming dead branches — leaning out, tempting fate, testing the Darwinian proposition.
The Florida Republican congressman and House Freedom Caucus member has since recovered from a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung, and some other injuries, and he’s since returned his focus to Joe Biden, against whom he filed four articles of impeachment.
Someone had to do, and Steube — a retired Army Airborne infantry and JAG corps officer, and an Iraq War vet — seems as good a man as any for the job.
“Bribery. Extortion. Obstruction of justice. Fraud. Financial involvement in drugs and prostitution. It’s LONG PAST TIME to impeach Joe Biden,” he tweeted on Friday. “Joe Biden shouldn’t be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country. Today I filed articles of impeachment.”
Steube’s move came on the same day that Attorney General Merrick Garland tried to fend off Republican investigations of the Biden Crime Family by appointing a deeply compromised “sweetheart” special counsel, David Weiss, to continue his never-ending investigation of Hunter Biden and keep it as far away from Joe Biden as possible.
Steube, though, knows that this isn’t about Hunter Biden. It’s about Joe Biden. Still, his impeachment articles join Merrick Garland’s outrageous special counsel appointment in jumping ahead of at least four ongoing Republican-led committee investigations of Biden. And while Republicans hold a razor-thin majority in the House and could therefore impeach Biden, they have no chance of convincing a Democrat-controlled Senate of convicting and therefore removing this sorry president from office.
“It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” Steube reiterated in a statement. “He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the Presidency, betrayed his trust as President, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America’s citizens. The evidence continues to mount by the day — the Biden Crime Family has personally profited off Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country.”
As for the charges, Article 1 is abuse of power, involving bribery, Hobbs Act extortion, and honest services fraud. Article 2 is obstruction of justice. Article 3 is fraud. And Article 4 pertains to Biden’s financial involvement in drugs and prostitution.
The first two articles seem the most pertinent. As Fox News reports: “The first accuses the president of abusing the power of his office by allegedly accepting bribes, committing Hobbs Act extortion and honest services fraud related to use of his official position. These charges arise from Biden’s alleged involvement with his family’s business dealings, including Hunter and James Biden’s (the president’s brother) alleged effort to sell access to then-Vice President Biden between 2009 and 2017 in exchange for ‘payments and business opportunities from foreign and domestic business partners.’”
The second charges that Biden “obstructed justice, citing IRS whistleblower testimony that ‘members of the Biden campaign improperly colluded with Justice Department (DOJ) officials to improperly interfere with investigations into tax crimes alleged to have been committed by Hunter Biden.’”
For the opposition, we give you the following statement from a hometown group called Sarasota Democrats: “Without the slightest bit of evidence, Greg Steube tries to steal 10 minutes of media attention by filing articles of impeachment against Joe Biden. All Sarasotans who have been waiting since last November for Steube to help improve their lives will see this cynical bit of gamesmanship for what it is. Steube, both an election and climate denier, has been chasing wild conspiracy theories instead of working to improve the lives of his Sarasota constituents since he was elected to represent the 17th Congressional District.”
As Steube told Fox News’s Jimmy Failla: “I can’t sit back as a member of Congress representing a district in the country and say, ‘Oh, this is okay. We’re going to have a different standard for the Biden family, and we’re not going to put the country through impeachment again.’”
To this we agree. The Democrats opened this can of worms by impeaching Donald Trump twice on charges infinitely more flimsy than those currently being leveled against Joe Biden.
Let’s see how they like it.
